Fruitvale Station (2013)

Based on shocking true events, Creed director Ryan Coogler’s debut film recounts the final few hours of 22-year-old Oscar Grant (Michael B Jordan) who was killed by a police officer at Fruitvale District station in Oakland.

Hunt For The Wilderpeople (2016)

Taika Waititi directs this hilarious (and very moving) comedy about a rebellious kid (Julian Dennison) and his foster uncle (Sam Neill) who journey into the New Zealand bush when Child Sevices tries to take the plucky young teen away. A national manhunt ensues!

Mr. Mom (1983)

Several years before he donned Batman’s mask and cape, Michael Keaton was a stay-at-home dad in this very funny comedy about a man left looking after the kids when his wife (Teri Garr) returns to the workforce.

Midnight Cowboy (1969)

Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight star in this Oscar-winning movie about the unlikely friendship between a conniving street hustler and a naive Texas ‘cowboy’ who has moved to the big city to make a living from his good looks and charms. The final scene is devastating.

The Royals – Seasons 1-4

Set in contemporary England, this drama series, which made its debut in 2015, tells the story of a fictional Royal family who learn that life in the spotlight leads to intense public scrutiny. Joan Collins (The Stud), William Moseley (The Narnia movies), and Alexandra Park ( Ben Is Back) star in this now-cancelled series.

May 11

Blood (2022)

Michelle Monaghan stars in this recent horror thriller about a mother who moves back into her old farmhouse with her young son and daughter. Shortly after settling in, the boy develops an appetite for blood after he is bitten by a dog. Brad Anderson (The Machinist) directs this unusual vampire horror.

May 25

A Violent Separation (2019)

In this 1980s set drama, a young deputy triggers a series of shattering events after he covers up a murder committed by his brother. Brenton Thwaites (Titans) and Ben Robson (Animal Kingdom) star in this formulaic but watchable movie.

May 26

La La Land (2016)

This musical from Damien Chazelle, which famously didn’t win the Best Picture award during the mix-up at the Oscars, tells the tale of a pianist (Ryan Gosling) and an actress (Emma Stone) whose career aspirations threaten their blossoming relationship. Guaranteed to make you dance on top of your car the next time you’re in a traffic jam!

  1. I’m intrigued by “Sanctuary” and am excited to check it out when it premieres. The concept of a futuristic society where AI is in charge of governing and protecting humans is both fascinating and slightly terrifying. The cast and crew involved in this project seem to be top-notch, and I’m interested to see how they bring this world to life. The Review Geek’s breakdown of the show has definitely piqued my interest and I’m looking forward to seeing if “Sanctuary” lives up to its potential.
