Thanksgiving
As My Life with the Walter Boys Season 1 Episode 5 opens on Thanksgiving, Katherine informs Jackie about the Walters’ Thanksgiving tradition. She proceeds by telling Jackie that she, too, can join in by preparing a few dishes with the other Walters. On the other hand, Jackie flat-out refuses to get involved and claims she has errands to run for the student council, so she’ll be late.
On the other hand, Alex and Cole Walter attempt to lift Jackie’s spirits by doing something special for her. Alex is thinking about a meaningful gesture to make for Jackie. Meanwhile, Cole is fixing the teapot that Jackie holds in high regard, which belongs to Jackie’s sister.
To avoid Thanksgiving, Jackie decides to participate in food drive delivery. Since Erin isn’t a huge fan of the holiday, she goes with Jackie as well. Jackie and Erin connect over their shared misfortunes as they make their deliveries.
As the Walters had invited Jackie’s uncle Richard to Thanksgiving, he arrives later that day. After informing Jackie about her uncle’s coming, Katherine urgently requests that she return home. Jackie insists that Erin join her at the Walters’ celebration, and she does.
On Jackie’s return, her uncle inquires as to whether she would rather stay in New York with him. In that case, he assures her that he’ll apply for custody. The Walters are taken aback by this, and Jackie is uncertain of how to proceed. Nevertheless, she decides to stay with the Walters for the time being when they contend that she is their chosen family.
In the episode’s final moments, Alex takes Jackie horseback riding so she can see picturesque landscapes that mirror a view she enjoys in New York. When Jackie gets back, Cole is prepared to give her the teapot he fixed. However, he spots Jackie kissing Alex and the episode comes to a close.
The Episode Review
In the fifth episode, Jackie’s uncle Richard celebrates Thanksgiving with the Walter family. Alex and Cole plan heartfelt surprises for Jackie to win her over. In light of their shared tragedies, Jackie and Erin grow close to one another.
This episode cranks up the tension to a higher level. That being said, it’s not always a plus because the show’s drama comes across as mechanical and forced. Having said that, the plot is so interesting that you can’t help but be engrossed in the show.
The show features numerous supporting characters, many of whom have been underutilised so far. We are just halfway through the show, so things could change with the characters who hardly make an appearance. Given the show’s evident potential, we’re crossing our fingers that things improve.
