My Home Hero – Season 1 Episode 7 Recap & Review

Mother and Mother

Episode 7 of My Home Hero begins with Kyoichi taking his laptop and departing to a different location in the house. Reika asks Kasen about Kyoichi but Tetsuo overhears their conversation. He tells Reika that Kyoichi is one of his company’s clients, and Tetsuo asked him for advice on how Reika can avoid terrible men. Kasen plays along to make Reika believe the story.

Afterward, Tetsuo and Kyoichi head out, and Reika plans to do the same. Kasen stays home to complete tasks for Tetsuo while he’s with Kyoichi, where he realizes Kyoichi was emailing back and forth in the bathroom thanks to the keylogger Tetsuo implemented into his laptop in the previous episode.

Reika finds a note in one of her shoes. It’s from Kyoichi, who wants her to contact him, and he tells her that her parents are hiding something. Kasen reads up on emails concerning the video she shot with Tabata and that if they can’t find Nobuto’s body within a certain time, they’ll blame Tetsuo and have him confess to killing Nobuto. She learns they’ll kill and torture Tetsuo.

Later, Kasen confirms she identified Kyoichi’s address.

Meanwhile, Tetsuo and Kyoichi arrive at Reika’s apartment. Tetsuo gets flashbacks of what he did to Nobuto at this place while Kyoichi tears it up to look for clues. Kasen arrives at the location and learns it’s Kyoichi’s parents’ place. His mother greets her and welcomes her inside.

Kasen tells Kyoichi’s mother that she’s come to tell her that Kyoichi won a prize. She wanted to survey them about it and they’ll get it via mail at a later date. Kasen spots of photo with Kyoichi and his parents. His mother explains that her husband took over an eatery but murdered himself due to a crime syndicate getting involved and the police not helping.

This changed Kyoichi drastically, making him more independent. He likes to send his mother necessities and wants to start a diner when he’s made enough money. As his mother worries about what would happen if she lost Kyoichi, Kasen recalls Tetsuo informing her about his new tablet. He says he installed Nobuto’s social media account, password, fake video, and movie-editing software.

He shows Kasen the box full of Nobuto’s bones and says these five items will help them frame anyone as Nobuto’s killer. He wants Kasen to place them at the home of someone from the organization to let them be framed as the killer.

This is the second plan Tetsuo conjured up if the video didn’t work out. Kasen leaves with the bag and plans to find Kyoichi’s actual address. Kyoichi opens his laptop, and Kasen notices he’s logged in and wants to use the keylogger to get more intel.

Kyoichi realizes Reika took the bait, so Kyoichi and Reika discuss meeting over email. Kyoichi says he’ll be leaving, and has Tetsuo handcuffed. If he tries escaping, Kyoichi will know he left due to the GPS. He’ll also call Tetsuo to check in with him.

When Kyoichi leaves, Tetsuo receives a message from Kasen. She alerts him that Reika and Kyoichi emailed each other, and the two plan to meet at a train station diner.

Tetsuo asks Kasen to grab the evidence bag and visit Reika’s apartment. Kasen arrives, and Tetsuo asks her if she brought the GPS. Kasen hands it to Tetsuo and places the envelope in the mailbox. The person retrieves the envelope Tetsuo put in there and leaves. Tetsuo unlocks the mailbox and notices it’s an ALS light. He promises to explain things later to Kasen and says it’s important to stop Reika.

Kyoichi accepts Kasen’s offer and leaves. He says the envelope with the GPS will be delivered to Kyoichi’s apartment, and he’ll leave the evidence bag inside his room and return to Reika’s place. Since his cell phone’s sharing its location with the organization, he can’t move it from Reika’s room.

Tetsuo has set-up call-forwarding which won’t notify the caller, so if Kyoichi phones, it’ll be forwarded to Kasen’s phone. This will allow Tetsuo to call him as Tetsuo states they must complete all this before Kyoichi returns to Reika’s apartment.

Kyoichi arrives at Kyoichi’s apartment complex and notices the large envelope sticking out of his mailbox. The episode closes with Kyoichi walking out of the elevator at his complex.

The Episode Review

My Home Hero continues delivering a fun and suspenseful experience this season. While Tetsuo’s managed to escape multiple situations before, he’ll need to be quick on his feet if he hopes to avoid Kyoichi detecting him at his apartment. Nevertheless, this episode will make many people ponder if this is the point where Tetsuo will consider offing Kyoichi like he planned to previously.

Although this would open up more problems in his wake, he may consider doing it. At the same time, this episode fleshes out Kyoichi’s character a bit and makes him feel like someone viewers can respect and understand. It’s a bit ironic that he’s working under the same type of people who caused his father to murder himself though.

Nevertheless, many people will feel mixed if Tetsuo decides to murder Kyoichi due to his situation currently. At the same time, Kasen’s job of stopping Reika from meeting Kyoichi is a little easier now that we know he’s at his apartment still. The only problems she’ll encounter will be finding Reika and convincing her why she should cancel her meeting with Kyoichi.

Like before, we can assume Kasen will fabricate a persuasive tale that will make Reika cancel those plans. What the tale will be remains a mystery though. Overall, this was another fun showcase from My Home Hero. It shows how strong of a duo Kasen and Tetsuo are and throws curve balls and suspenseful moments to keep viewers glued to their screens. I’m looking forward to seeing how Tetsuo and Kasen plan to work their way around their current predicaments.
