My Hero Academia – Season 7 Episode 15 Recap & Review

Butterfly Effect

Episode 14 of My Hero Academia kicks off with Spinner breaking into the hospital, determined to achieve something significant by awakening Kurogiri, who is locked inside. This is part of All for One’s plan to use Spinner to deliver a recording of his or Shigaraki’s voice to awaken Kurogiri, whose quirk could be a game-changer in the ongoing war. However, just as Spinner is about to reach Kurogiri, Present Mic intervenes, using his quirk to damage the recording.

Meanwhile, a mob of villains enters the hospital but is confronted by doctors forming a human chain to protect the patients. This scene causes the mob to question their actions, leading to a break in their momentum.

Elsewhere, Spinner, on the verge of defeat, recalls his memories with Shigaraki and the passion he felt to support him. In a desperate move, he places Shigaraki’s charred hand, which he had been carrying, onto Kurogiri and urges him to help Shigaraki. Kurogiri awakens, declaring his intent to protect Shigaraki despite Present Mic’s attack. It’s revealed that the hand contained a microdevice that triggered Kurogiri to take action. Spinner then passes out.

In America, a weather forecaster protests against the government’s decision to appease All for One. Meanwhile, Toya (Dabi) continues burning beyond comprehension. As he tries to fly towards Endeavour’s location, a warp gate appears.

On an island where Uravity and Froppy are, Himiko finds herself in a difficult situation. She has just enough of Twice’s blood to sustain her transformation for 30-40 minutes. For the first time, she strategically considers her actions. After fooling Froppy, she ingests Twice’s blood

Just in time, Kurogiri’s warp gate appears, transporting her to where Endeavour and Hawks are. Seeking revenge for Twice’s death, she launches Twice’s ultimate move, Sad Man’s Parade, unleashing an infinite number of doubles of herself as Twice. Meanwhile, Kurogiri transfers Present Mic to the Coffin in the Sky to divert attention away from Deku and Shigaraki’s battle.

The Episode Review

My Hero Academia’s final war arc is hitting multiple climaxes across different battlefronts. Each warzone is reaching its peak as Hawks and Endeavour now have to contend with not only All for One but also Dabi and Himiko.

On the other side, Eraser Head and the others, focused on preventing Shigaraki from using his decay and other quirks while fighting Deku, are caught off guard by Present Mic’s sudden arrival behind them. Although the full consequences of Kurogiri’s actions remain unclear in this episode, they are bound to be catastrophic.

A key point in this episode is the development of Himiko as a character. From being an unpredictable and impulsive wannabe villain, this is the first time she has strategically thought through the implications of her actions, marking her transformation into a true villain.

The title of the episode is also noteworthy since a little addition of Kurogiri in the final battle has had a butterfly effect which could turn the tide in favour of the villains in the next episode.
