My Happy Marriage – Season 2 Episode 3 Recap & Review

The Gifted Communion and Demons

Episode 3 of My Happy Marriage Season 2 begins with Arata scolding Miyo. Then, Arata introduces himself to Fuyu. Miyo tells Arata she wants to use her abilities to save Kota. Arata reminds Miyo that using her powers alone could result in her death.

After minor convincing, Arata lets Miyo use her powers to save Kota. Arata tells Miyo he’ll observe her. Meanwhile, Kiyoka encounters a few villagers. The villagers tell him they saw a demon at the run-down mansion.

Kiyoka visits the mansion and encounters a Gifted Communion member. The member claims his group gave people demon powers. He argues everyone should be equal. Kiyoka refuses to comment. The member whistles and warns Kiyoka of Naoshi Usui’s (his leader’s) intentions.

Then the member departs. Two new Gifted Communion members appear alongside a demon. The demon attempts to harm Kiyoka, but Tadakiyo arrives and protects Kiyoka. Kiyoka and Tadakiyo fight the Gifted Communion members and the demon.

After our pair defeat their foes, we cut away to Miyo approaching a tree inside Kota’s mind. Miyo notices Kota and comforts him. Then, a demon grabs Kota’s head. The demon drags Kota into the water below his and Miyo’s feet.

Miyo uses her powers within this space. Arata snaps Miyo out of her trance in the real world. He tells Miyo that her plan worked. Kota’s family member thanks Miyo and Miyo’s happy she was useful. Kiyoka arrives at the Kudo Family home. Miyo and Arata greet Kiyoka at the entrance.

Arata tells Kiyoka that Takaihito wants him to investigate a suspicious organization roaming the area. Kiyoka shows Arata a container with blood in it. Kiyoka says the Gifted Communion is using this blood to help demons control human bodies.

Kiyoka informs Arata about Naoshi’s plan to turn people into ability-users. Arata reveals that Naoshi shares the same Usuba blood as Miyo and himself. He confirms that Naoshi is from the Usui family, a branch of the Usuba family.

Arata says Naoshi was Sumi’s (Miyo’s mother’s) prospective fiancé. However, when Sumi married Saimori, Naoshi cut ties with the Usuba family and disappeared. Arata says he’ll report this news to Takaihito. He says he’ll investigate the Gifted Communion situation alone afterward.

Kiyoka notices Miyo’s worried about everything. He shares some kind words Miyo’s way and kisses her. Fuyu and Nae visit Miyo in her room in the morning. Fuyu realizes Miyo’s heading to the Imperial City and states how that relieves her.

Fuyu notices Miyo’s dress Hazuki got her. She asks Miyo if she plans to wear it. Fuyu belittles Miyo further. However, Fuyu says the spirit Miyo showed when she tried to act on Kiyoka’s behalf convinced Fuyu to acknowledge Miyo slightly.

Fuyu tells Miyo to hold out her hands. Miyo complies and Fuyu gives her an old ribbon of hers. Fuyu departs. Nae tells Miyo she thinks Miyo’s brave act rubbed off on Fuyu. Fuyu notices Kiyoka. She tells Kiyoka to help Miyo overcome her timid attitude by the time he and Miyo return to her home.

Miyo and Kiyoka depart from the Kudo Family home. Meanwhile, Yoshito and his anti-grotesquerie companions invade a building. Yoshito and the others find the Gifted Communion’s banner inside, but no members are present. He and his buddies investigate the area.

Suddenly, several contraptions go off. The entrance door closes behind Yoshito and his friends and a circle forms underneath Yoshito. A white light envelops the area afterward. Meanwhile, Miyo, Kiyoka, and Arata exit a subway train.

Then, a red light illuminates around our trio. The episode ends with Naoshi confronting Miyo, Kiyoka, and Arata at the station.

The Episode Review

Miyo and Kiyoka’s days at the Kudo Family home are over (for now). It’s great seeing Fuyu slightly acknowledge Miyo for her heroic actions. While some fans won’t like some of Fuyu’s remarks about Miyo, others can understand where Fuyu’s coming from.

Miyo’s been through many stressful situations and it makes sense for her to develop this timid persona. Yet, some fans may want to see a more confident version of Miyo. Hopefully, future chapters will entice Miyo to grow out of her anxious shell. It’ll be a fantastic sight to see.

Meanwhile, this episode gives fans details about the Gifted Communion and their goals. Although Kiyoka and Miyo’s relationship is the main attraction, some viewers will find this series’s worldly issues fascinating.

Next to having nice action and slight tension concerning the chapter’s closing segments, My Happy Marriage season 2 episode 3 was enjoyable.
