Below is a rundown of all the biggest movie releases coming to UK streaming services in June 2024.
Let us know which movies you will be watching in the comments below.
Hit Man (2024)
Release Date: June 7
Where To Watch: Netflix
Richard Linklater’s latest film stars Glenn Powell as an undercover hitman who breaks protocol when he comes to the aid of a woman who is fleeing her abusive husband.
Critics applauded this film when it premiered at Sundance, with one reviewer calling it Linklater’s best film since Boyhood. Be sure to have this one in your sights when it debuts on Netflix this month.
Meg 2 (2023)
Release Date: June 7
Where To Watch: NOW TV
It’s man vs shark, again, in this Ben Wheatly-directed sequel starring Jason Statham as the only man alive who can take on a shark in a fight and come out on top.
The movie is as ridiculous as you might expect and while we didn’t rate it highly in our review, you might still want to tune in if the idea of Statham going mano to mano with a prehistoric sea behemoth appeals to you!
Poolman (2023)
Release Date: June 7
Where To Watch: Prime Video
Chris Pine’s directorial debut didn’t impress very many credits at the time of its release. But while this comedy-mystery was more of a belly-flop than an impressive swan dive, it’s still worth a look, if only to get a glimpse of the occasional flashes of brilliance in the otherwise disappointing movie.
Pine also stars in the film, as a man named Darren Barrenman who spends his days looking after the pool of an apartment block and fighting to make his hometown a better place to live in. He is given a new purpose in life when he is tasked with uncovering a shady business deal involving a corrupt politician and a greedy land developer.
The Royal Hotel (2023)
Release Date: June 8
Where To Watch: NOW TV
Julia Garner and Jessica Henwick star in this acclaimed thriller about two backpackers who find themselves in a dangerous situation when they run out of money and take a job in a remote Outback pub.
Am I OK? (2024)
Release Date: June 9
Where To Watch: NOW TV
A long-held secret throws the friendship of two friends into chaos in this comedy-drama starring Dakota Johnson and Sonoya Mizuno.
The Great Escaper (2023)
Release Date: June 14
Where To Watch: NOW TV
Michael Caine’s final screen appearance sees him on fine form as a man who escapes from his care home to attend the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in France. Glenda Jackson, who passed away after making this film, gives an equally transfixing performance in this based on a true story film.
Ultraman: Rising (2024)
Release Date: June 14
Where To Watch: Netflix
Animated action adventure about a superstar basketball player who becomes the next person to take on the mantle of Ultraman.
The End We Start From (2023)
Release Date: June 19
Where To Watch: Netflix
Jodie Comer stars in this British thriller about a woman who tries to find her way home with her newborn when London is hit by a flood.
Trigger Warning (2024)
Release Date: June 21
Where To Watch: Netflix
Action thriller starring Jessica Alba as a Special Forces Commando who takes on a violent gang running rampant in her hometown.
Five Nights at Freddy’s (2023)
Release Date: June 21
Where To Watch: NOW TV
When Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson) starts his new job as a night guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a once-successful but now abandoned family entertainment centre, he is forced into a battle for survival when its four animatronic mascots – Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy – spring murderously to life!
Critics weren’t overly kind about this video game adaptation – we shared our disappointment in our review of Five Nights at Freddy’s – but fans of the game might want to check out the movie regardless, if only to see how faithfully the game has been translated to the screen.
A Family Affair (2024)
Release Date: June 28
Where To Watch: Netflix
Joey King, Zac Efron, and Nicole Kidman star in this romantic comedy that grapples with complications of love, sex, and identity.
The Devil’s Bath (2023)
Release Date: June 28
Where To Watch: Shudder
This latest film from the directors of Goodnight Mommy and The Lodge is an unsettling tale about a woman driven mad because of religious repression in rural 18th-century Austria. It explores the concept that murder is preferable to suicide in the eyes of the church, which is something that the film’s protagonist has to dwell upon while living a life of misery with her passionless husband.
Fancy Dance (2024)
Release Date: June 28
Where To Watch: Apple TV+
Lily Gladstone stars as an Indigenous woman who hits the road with her niece to find the girls’ mother who went missing sometime before.
