The DCEU is no more!
Beginning in 2013 with Man of Steel and ending in 2023 with the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the franchise that tried (but failed) to compete with the MCU is officially over.
In its place is the DCU headed by new DC heads James Gunn and Peter Safran who are ushering in a new era of DC shows and movies.
In this article, we have listed every movie and TV show confirmed for the DCU so far, but expect more announcements to come as Gunn and Safran begin work on other projects for their new comic book universe.

Confirmed Movies in the DCU
Superman: Legacy
Release Date: July 11, 2025
The first movie within Chapter 1 of the rebooted DC Universe is Superman: Legacy which will focus on a younger version of Superman as he goes on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage. The Man of Steel won’t be the only comic book character to feature in the film as other superheroes will also be making an appearance, including Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, and member of the Green Lantern Corps, Guy Gardner.
David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan have been cast as Superman and Lois Lane in a movie that will also star Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Expect more casting announcements to be made soon.
The Authority
Release Date: TBA
Gunn has called this upcoming movie one of his passion projects and in an interview, described the group known as The Authority as:
“Basically good-intentioned, but they think that the world is completely broken and the only way to fix it is to take things into their own hands, whether that means killing people, destroying heads of state, changing governments—basically, whatever they want to do to make the world better.”
These morally grey characters will reportedly make their debut in Superman: Legacy but as to whether or not they will aid or abet the Man of Steel remains to be seen.
The Brave and the Bold
Release Date: TBA
Ben Affleck won’t be returning as Batman and neither will George Clooney, despite his cameo at the end of 2023’s The Flash. This new movie will headline a new, currently unconfirmed actor as the Caped Crusader, and joining Batman will be Damian Wayne, his actual son and the fifth character to be known as Robin.
The movie will be based on the Grant Morrison comic book run and will be separate from Matt Reeve’s own trilogy of Batman films which are not officially part of the DCU.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
Release Date: TBA
The last time we had a Supergirl movie was in 1984 but the less said about that comic book misfire, the better! This new movie will feature a Supergirl that is, according to Gunn, “a much harsher and more f*cked up Supergirl than you’ve been used to thus far.”
The movie will be based on Tom King’s graphic novel of the same name which saw Supergirl travelling across the galaxy on a mission of revenge with her loyal companion Krypto the Superdog. You can learn more about the original comic book story here.
Casting for the movie hasn’t been announced but we wouldn’t be surprised if Sasha Calle, who starred as Supergirl in the multiversal Flash movie, reprises her role.
Swamp Thing
Release Date: TBA
Swamp Thing has been seen on screen before in two low-budget movies and a couple of TV series. His upcoming appearance in the DCU could be considered something of a surprise – he’s not the first character we would squeeze into the rebooted franchise – but as the first chapter of Gunn’s saga has been termed “Gods and Monster,” it’s perhaps not all that surprising that he would add an actual monster into his new run of movies.
Not a lot is known about Swamp Thing at the time of writing, other than the fact that the movie will tell the origin story of this plant-based hero.
Confirmed TV Shows in the DCU
Creature Commandos – Season 1
Release Date: Late 2024
The first project on the DCU slate is Creature Commandos, a new animated series that will be debuting on Max later this year. You’ll already recognize one of the characters in the picture above – Weasel, on the far right, who was last seen in Suicide Squad – and joining him on the character roster are (from left to right) Rick Flag, Sr, Nina Mazursky. Doctor Phosphorus, Eric Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, and G.I. Robot.
This team of monsters form a black ops team assembled by Amanda Waller. Will they make a live-action appearance in the Waller television series? We’re doubtful but there might be room for a live-action movie for the monstrous squad if they prove to be a hit with audiences.
Waller – Season 1
Release Date: 2024
Viola Davies reprises her role as Amanda Waller, the morally ambiguous government agent who famously assembled the Suicide Squad. This upcoming series takes place between the first two seasons of Peacemaker and will be released on Max sometime this year.
Plot details are currently under wraps but we do know Danielle Brooks and Steve Agee are reprising their Peacemaker roles as Adebayo and John Economos respectively.
Lanterns – Season 1
Release Date: TBA
The 2011 live-action movie Green Lantern was a flop, which is why the movie never became the franchise starter that Warner Bros wanted. Lanterns will feature the Hal Jordan character that Ryan Reynolds played in the movie but you shouldn’t expect the Deadpool actor to reprise his role for this new series.
Lanterns will take the form of an intergalactic cop show with Hal Jordan teaming up with another member of the Green Lantern Corps, John Stewart, to uncover a dark mystery.
Paradise Lost – Season 1
Release Date: TBA
According to Peter Safran, Paradise Lost “is a Game of Thrones-type story about Themyscira/Paradise Island, home of the Amazons and the birthplace of Wonder Woman.”
The series is reported to be an origin story for these women that is set at a time before the birth of Diana of Themyscira, aka Wonder Woman.
Booster Gold – Season 1
Release Date: TBA
In the comic books, Booster Gold is a disgraced football star who uses technology to pretend to be a superhero. The upcoming series, which will be the DCU’s first outright comedy, will likely lean into this aspect of the character who famously suffers from ‘imposter syndrome.’
Peacemaker – Season 2
Release Date: TBA
Peacemaker Season 2 will be released sometime after the release of Superman: Legacy. Whether or not it will debut in 2025 is up for debate but regardless of the show’s release date, we’re hopeful that the second season will be as wildly enjoyable as the first season which debuted on Max in January 2022. Little is known about the plot of Season 2 but we expect to see John Cena and other cast members from Season 1 reprising their roles.
Untitled Arkham Series
Release Date: TBA
The Batman director Matt Reeves is developing this new series for the DCU which, confusingly, is set in a different universe to his movie. Nothing is known about the series at present but we expect a few familiar villains from the DC comic books to show their faces from within the confines of Gotham’s psychiatric prison hospital.
