Will there be a The Curse of Bridge Hollow 2? Here’s what we know about a sequel:

The Curse of Bridge Hollow 2

The Curse of Bridge Hollow is currently available to stream on Netflix. While it’s not a particularly great movie, you might still be interested in seeing it if you’re looking for a family-friendly movie to watch with your kids during the Halloween season.

At the movie’s end, there is a surprise reveal that seems to suggest there could be a sequel. But will there be a The Curse of Bridge Hollow 2? Or have the negative reviews cursed a sequel’s chances? Here’s what we know:

What is The Curse of Bridge Hollow about?

The Curse of Bridge Hollow follows teenage girl Sydney (Priah Ferguson) and her Halloween-hating father Howard (Marlon Wayans) as they team up to save their town from an ancient spirit that is unleashed when Sydney lights a cursed lantern. The spirit causes the town’s Halloween decorations to come to life and as these include zombies and witches, the town’s residents are understandably spooked when their town is overrun by such horrors.

Do Sydney and Howard save the day? We will reveal no spoilers here but if you would like to know more about the movie, check out our Ending Explained article which delves into the movie’s plotting.

Will there be a sequel to The Curse of Bridge Hollow?

As we suggested, the movie’s final scene does suggest the possibility of a sequel. But at the time of writing, The Curse of Bridge Hollow 2 has not been announced by Netflix.

The chances of a sequel will likely depend on how well the movie does with audiences. As it has only just been released, we don’t have any viewing figures at this stage but we imagine that the movie will be popular with families looking for something to watch over the Halloween season.

The Adam Sandler-starring Hubie Halloween proved popular with Netflix audiences back in October 2020 and The Curse of Bridge Hollow seems tailor-made for the demographic who enjoyed that high-spirited comedy. Of course, Hubie Halloween didn’t get a sequel so it might be that The Curse of Bridge Hollow doesn’t get a Part 2 either. But as Netflix’s new movie is open-ended, there is a possibility that a sequel could happen.

Unfortunately, critics have not been overly-kind about The Curse of Bridge Hollow so this could scupper the chances of a sequel. Still, we imagine viewing figures will be the deciding factor so don’t lose hope if you’re keen on seeing a follow-up movie.

What could happen in The Curse of Bridge Hollow 2?

At the end of the first movie, Sydney and Howard put an end to the curse that has been plaguing their town. But when they accidentally knock down a wall in the attic, they discover something that suggests more trouble in the future.

If a sequel is given the green light, it would likely follow on from this discovery. As to what could happen, well, we can’t really say for sure. We won’t tell you what they find but believe us when we say there could be more than one curse waiting to be unleashed on Bridge Hollow.

When could The Curse of Bridge Hollow 2 be released?

As the first movie was Halloween-themed, the sequel would likely be released in October 2023 or 2024 just in time for the spooky season. Alternatively, the makers of the first movie might decide on a Christmas follow-up with snowmen and Santa Claus decorations coming to life. We think this because there is a brief mention of Christmas and the over-the-top festivities that the townsfolk take part in during the first movie. If this is the case, we could see The Curse of Bridge Hollow 2 in December next year.

Which cast members will return for The Curse of Bridge Hollow 2?

Marlon Wayans and Priah Ferguson will likely return if the movie is given the green light, and we expect to see Kelly Rowland, the actress who plays Sydney’s mom, make a return too. Rob Riggle, who stars as the next-door neighbour of Sydney and her family, will probably make a comeback, and Lauren Lapkus, who stars as the town’s mayor, might also make an appearance.

This is assuming the movie is given the go-ahead, of course, but if we do hear more about a sequel, we will update this page with fresh information.

  1. This movie was great. I absolutely am on board for a second one based on a Christmas theme!! Oh please make it happen!!! I’m also an actress from Wilmington, NC and would love to be part of the second one!!!!

  2. I really enjoyed this, as it’s in a similar vein to the Goosebumps movies. I liked the casting choices and the stories, BUT, as with many of the comments on here, the racist comments by Marlon Wayans’ character, really irked me. That was really the only thing that spoilt it, in my opinion. He was the main draw for me watching the film, as he usually takes the proverbial out of ALL the races, which is how it should be.
As another commentator stated, this was a tad too woke, as was his irritating know-it-all attitude of the character. I had never seen Kelly Rowland in a film before, but she was really good – subtle, but well acted.

Despite all this I would still give a sequel a shot. Hopefully they may bring out a new one for all the holidays/festivals, like Easter, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, etc.

  3. This movie is definitely awesome, I loved it I already watched it twice and I will continue watching it constantly and I’m definitely looking to see part 2 very soon.

  4. I aways enjoy films with the Wayans brothers and this one didn’t disappoint. I really hope a sequel set during the Christmas Season is in the cards. A good Christmas comedy would go down a treat!

  5. All the people talking about the movie being subtly racist or woke, have you never seems a Wayne’s bros movie?

  6. Could have done without the racist comments throughout the movie. I thought I was watching a Halloween movie not woke trash.

  7. My family and I love and enjoyed the movie the curse of bridge hollow it’s was extremely good and funny definitely need to be a part 2 of it no doubt sign Timothy Lindstrom.

  8. They make mention to “you should see this town during Christmas” Honestly I would like to see them make a bridge hollow Christmas movie with the same cast!

  9. I would love to see even more of this movie even a Christmas one I loved the first one please please please make a sequel of this movie of all the rest of the chest and bins they found

  10. The Curse of Bridge hollow has subtle racism weaved though the story. So typically racist American that most parents wont know their kids are being brainwashed into beliving white privilege is real and living in every American household.
