Piggy 2
The 2022 Spanish movie Piggy will be relatable to anybody who has ever been bullied by another. It tells a sad and often shocking tale about an overweight teen who is bullied by a group of vicious girls because of her size.
If you have seen and enjoyed the movie (though given its nature, ‘enjoyed’ might be the wrong word to use), you might be interested in a sequel.
But will there be a Piggy 2?
Here’s what we know at the time of writing.
What is Piggy about?
The movie is centred around a girl named Sara, whose life is made a misery by the popular kids in her town. They call her ‘Piggy’ and ridicule her in other ways because she is overweight.
One day, after almost being drowned by one particular nasty bully, Sara is shocked to see a man appear from beneath the pool that she had been swimming in. Under the water is the dead body of a lifeguard and it soon becomes apparent that this stranger is responsible for his death.
Sara doesn’t notice the body but when she walks home, she spots a van parked on a country road. In the back of the van are the girls who previously taunted her and she realises they have been abducted by the man she noticed earlier.
Does Sara try to save the girls? Or does she leave them to their fate? We aren’t going to reveal the movie’s plotline here but if you would like to know more about Piggy, check out our Ending Explained article which goes into further detail. You can also check out the trailer below.
Will there be a Piggy 2?
The chances of a sequel are very unlikely. Piggy isn’t the kind of movie that necessarily needs a follow-up as the story is wrapped up by the movie’s end. This isn’t to say it might never happen but we really don’t think you should get your hopes up.
Of course, if a sequel is announced, we will update this page with the relevant information.
What could Piggy 2 be about?
Should there be a sequel, we think it will probably focus on Sara again and the consequences of her actions in the first movie. We aren’t going to go into major details here, but if you saw Piggy, you will remember what Sara did when she found the bullying girls in a warehouse that was being used as a hiding place by their abductor. The repercussions of her actions will likely be the focus of Piggy 2 if it is ever given the green light.
When could Piggy 2 be released?
Piggy 2 doesn’t appear to be in production so we shouldn’t expect a sequel this year. And as we don’t think a sequel will happen, we don’t think it will appear on any future movie schedules. That being said, if a sequel is announced this year, we might see it in 2024 or 2025. Bookmark this page for future updates.
