Over the last decade, the Magic Mike movie series has become something meaningful when it comes to talking about the condition of male strippers as a profession and the social struggle people from the low economic belt have to go through. However, the newest movie in the series – Magic Mike’s Last Dance, seems to have lost the plot in comparison to its other two counterparts.
Aside from the one song that the movie is associated with (Pony) as well as Channing Tatum’s ability to grind anything and everything in vision, there is not much the movie series talked about. Magic Mike XXL was really one of the most hyped films in Hollywood and everyone was talking about it at the time but eight years after, there seems to be little buzz and a lot of nostalgia around the A-rated film.
So here’s what we know about the release of a fourth Magic Mike movie:
What is the Magic Mike Movie Series about?
The first Magic Mike movie released in 2012 and saw Mike, a part-time male stripper, help a young guy named Adam become a stripper just like him. With an ensemble cast of Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, and Joe Manganiello among others, the movie Magic Mike talked about the real truth of the male stripping industry, the effect of drugs as well as the socio-economic class struggle that these male strippers have to face when they wish to turn their lives around.
Not long after the first movie was released 2015’s Magic Mike XXL followed the lives of these male strippers who have moved on from the business in their own way but wish to give dancing and stripping a shot one last time. Mike has it hardest among others as his personal business is a constant failure and he needs money to make things work.
Magic Mike’s Last Dance comes eight years after the second movie and one would think that the lives of these strippers may have turned around. That isn’t true for most of these men and Mike, at the age of 40 is still in debt and trying to make money to pay his debt off. Mike is approached by a businesswoman – Max who asks him to move to London in order to help her run her theatre in a unique way. She wants the theatre to have male strip shows for women who want to leave behind their stressful lives.
Will there be a Magic Mike 4?
From the looks of it, a Magic Mike 4 movie seems highly unlikely but nothing can be certainly said about this one. Magic Mike movies have a way of being made out of thin air and we would not be surprised if the makers of the franchise decide to release a fourth movie 5-7 years down the line.
Since the movie has only been released globally as recently as February 10th in some regions, there is not much the makers have revealed about a potential fourth part in the series. The Warner Bros original has opened on 1,500 screens this Valentine’s Day Weekend and has already been greenlit and budgeted as an HBO Max exclusive.
With the popularity of the star cast, as well as the buzz around the strip scenes in the movie, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this one is renewed for a new movie sometime in the future. We will be sure to update this page in the future if there are any new developments from the makers.
What will Magic Mike 4 be about?
The third movie, Magic Mike’s Last Dance ended with a happy ending just like the other two previous movies in the series. Despite having multiple failed relationships in the past, Mike ends up confessing his feelings for Max and promises to stay back in London with her.
Knowing how relationships usually don’t last long for Mike, there is a great chance that Mike will have to move back to the states and repay the loan to his friends. There is also a possibility that Mike and Max’s relationship works out and he is able to make money out of the club. We could also expect Mike to perform at the show on special nights.
When could Magic Mike 4 be released?
So far there is no knowledge about a fourth movie in the Magic Mike series but it can be assumed that if there is a new Magic Mike movie, it could release anywhere between 1 to 3 years or more. We do not expect a quick renewal so the Magic Mike 4 movie could release anytime from 2024 to 2026 or later.
