Will there be a JFK 2? Here’s what we know about a sequel:

JFK

JFK 2

Oliver Stone has become obsessed with the assassination of John F Kennedy over the years and he put his own findings into his 3 hour epic JFK, released in 1991. It starred Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, Jack Lemmon and Donald Sutherland. It continues to be the definitive movie about the conspiracy involving the death of the president 60 years ago. But will there be a JFK 2? Or do we have to settle for this one being a one-off true crime story? Here’s what we know at the time of writing:

What is JFK about?

A New Orleans District Attorney called Jim Garrison discovers there’s more to the Kennedy assassination than the official story, and launches an investigation into what really happened.

Will there be a sequel to JFK?

No. JFK 2 won’t happen for a very straightforward reason: the story has already been told. The original movie was regarded as entirely self-contained, and stand-alone narrative. It is based on the true story of the assassination of JFK and there are no plans to follow it up. However, Oliver Stone has recently directed two documentaries which effectively act as follow ups to his original movie. They are the feature length JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass and the mini series, JFK: Destiny Betrayed.

When could JFK 2 be released?

The sequel would have at least been discussed if it were in the works. However, since there is currently no information regarding JFK 2, it is best to avoid getting your hopes up, as the likelihood of one is extremely low.

Of course, this is all speculation and if anything changes, we’ll be sure to update you!
