Furies 2
Furies hit the streaming platform Netflix in March 2023 and there has been much excitement surrounding it. It happens to be the first Netflix Vietnam Original movie and was supposed to have a theatrical release in 2022 before it went to the giant OTT platform.
Not only is it made by Vietnamese superstar Veronica Ngo, but it also stars her along with some big names like Song Luan, Dong Anh Quynh, Toc Tien and Rima Thanh Vy. The high-chase action movie is supposed to be a prequel to Furie and focuses on Jacqueline and her group of vigilantes.
Well, if you have seen it, like every other viewer, you may be looking for its sequel. But will there be a Furies 2? Or is there little chance of a follow-up film? Here’s what we know at the time of writing.

What is Furies about?
Set in the 1990s Saigon, Furies is a revenge drama that focuses on a group of girls who want to dish out justice for all the women oppressed and abused by powerful and corrupt men. Jacqueline takes in Bi, Thanh and Hong and trains them till they are martial arts experts. She then assigns them their first mission which is to take down the Big 4.
They rule the downtown nightlife and are involved in every crime possible from drug smuggling to gambling and sex trafficking. As the girls start dismantling their business, their plans start to go awry by unforeseen circumstances and dangerous secrets are unveiled.
Will there be a Furies 2?
At the time of writing, a sequel to Furies has not been announced. However, it should be noted that Furies itself is the second film in the Furie series and a prequel to the 2019 film. Helmed by filmmaker-actress Veronica Ngo, if she does decide upon a follow-up, we can always get a sequel to Furies.
It should also be noted that Netflix usually greenlights a sequel for their original films if they do well which includes critical ratings as well as its reception worldwide. With all that in mind, there’s a good chance that this could be renewed.
What could happen in Furies 2?
While it has been said that Furies is a prequel to Furie, it doesn’t really make sense as Veronica’s character, Jacqueline is supposedly killed in Furies. She is then seen as a mother, Hai Phuong who uses her old gangster connection to search for her kidnapped daughter. While it is plausible that Hai Phuong and Jacqueline are the same characters, we may need a sequel to explain how.
As she clearly looks dead by the end of Furies, some explanation is needed to show her well and alive to then connect it to the events of Furie. Furies 2 could also follow Bi who has been arrested and thrown in prison for 15 years. We’d like to know what happens to her as she is finally freed and she smirks as she walks off.
But if the production is interested in just keep going backwards and backwards, we could do with another prequel that focuses on the happy-go-lucky Hong and the moody Thanh when they were alive and how they joined hands with Jacqueline.
When could Furies 2 be released?
We first got Furie in 2019 followed by news of the prequel in 2022. It was supposed to be released theatrically before being released on Netflix in March 2023. And with Veronica Ngo right now being busy with the Hollywood film Old Guard 2, it may take some time before we get a Furies 2.
Of course, this is all speculation as there has been no official news regarding a second movie. Keep an eye out for this section as we will update readers if there is any news.
