Will there be an Eraser 2? Here’s what we know about a sequel:

Eraser

Eraser 2

Arnold Schwarzenegger was the biggest action star of the ’80s and ’90s, but one of his most underrated movies was the 1996 hit, Eraser, co-starring Vanessa Williams and James Caan. Directed by Chuck Russell, this was a fun action romp with some of Arnie’s signature action moves. But will there be an Eraser 2? Or do we have to settle for this one being a one-off action thriller? Here’s what we know at the time of writing:

What is Eraser about?

A specialist in Witness Protection becomes suspicious of his co-workers when he takes on a case involving high-tech weapons.

Will there be a sequel to Eraser?

No, Eraser 2 won’t happen for a very straightforward reason: the story has already been told. The original film was regarded as an entirely self-contained, stand-alone narrative. There was a direct-to-streaming reboot that landed on HBO Max in late 2022, called Eraser: Reborn, but this had no direct link to the 1996 original.

What could Eraser 2 be about?

There are two options for a sequel. They could follow on from the original 1996 movie, catching up with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character, or it could be a direct follow-up to the unrelated reboot, Eraser: Reborn.

When could a sequel be released?

The sequel would have at least been discussed if it were in the works. However, since there is currently no information regarding Eraser 2, it is best to avoid getting your hopes up, as the likelihood of one is extremely low.

Of course, this is all speculation and if anything changes, we’ll be sure to update you!
