Will there be a Death Proof 2? Here’s what we know about a sequel:

Death Proof

Death Proof 2

Death Proof was one part of the Grindhouse double bill that was launched into cinemas back in 2007, with Planet Terror being the other movie, directed by Robert Rodriguez. Quentin Tarantino directed this one, and it’s considered his weakest movie, despite a stunning performance by Kurt Russell. But will there be a Death Proof 2? Or do we have to settle for this one being a one-off action movie? Here’s what we know at the time of writing:

What is Death Proof about?

Two separate sets of women are stalked at different times by a scarred and dangerous stuntman who uses his “death proof” cars to execute his victims.

Will there be a sequel to Death Proof?

No, Death Proof 2 won’t happen for a very straightforward reason: the story has already been told. The original film was regarded as an entirely self-contained, stand-alone narrative. Tarantino doesn’t do sequels to his movies, and he probably wouldn’t allow another director to come in to do it either.

What could Death Proof 2 be about?

Despite a sequel being very unlikely, in theory, it could focus on the women who beat Stuntman Mike to death, but it’s probably best left alone. It also didn’t do amazingly at the box office, so a sequel isn’t really warranted.

When could a sequel be released?

The sequel would have at least been discussed if it were in the works. However, since there is currently no information regarding Death Proof 2, it is best to avoid getting your hopes up, as the likelihood of one is extremely low.

Of course, this is all speculation and if anything changes, we’ll be sure to update you!
