Congrats My Ex is a Thai movie starring Bella Ranee Campen, Bright Vicharavit Chivaaree, Mahir Pandhi and Anahita Bhooshan in the lead. The movie features an Indian theme given the nature of its story which adds to an appeal for Indian audiences.
If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:
What is Congrats My Ex about?
Imagine you broke up and years later, you are managing and planning the same ex’s wedding? What would your reaction be like? Would you feel a pang of “what if”? Well, Risa the leading lady in Congrats! My Ex, does feel it to an extent.
Risa is a wedding planner who has had a few difficult run ins with her clients. She is looking for a good gig to keep her business afloat. When she does find one, it is planning her ex Arun’s wedding. Her past comes flashing back, but Risa keeps it professional.
When the photographer gets in an accident, Risa reluctantly hires Tim, another ex of hers. She had ghosted Tim the first time they met but as they spend time together at Arun’s wedding, positive feelings of love and trust begin to bloom once again.
Throughout the movie, the story gives a snapshot of how Indian weddings take place in foreign countries. There is a vibrant splash of colours, hope and new outlook towards life in this simple and funny romcom.
Will there be a sequel for Congrats My Ex?
At the time of writing, Amazon Prime Video have not renewed Congrats! My Ex for a sequel. But it could well change in the near future.
Generally Amazon Prime Video, like other streaming platforms, gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before Amazon Prime Video make a decision over a show’s future.
So far, Congrats! My Ex has had a good reaction from audiences and critics alike, which does pose good news for the renewal chances of this one. The completion rate is also likely to be pretty high with this, given how easy it is to watch through. Fingers crossed we find out sooner rather than later on this one.
What we know about Congrats My Ex sequel so far:
Not much is known about sequel at the time of writing, given Amazon have only just dropped the first film on the platform. It’s fair to assume that all of our characters will be returning should this be greenlit.
We see that Arun and Monica get married and ride off into their blissful sunset. Risa and Tim reconcile their differences and do confess their feelings for one another. If there was a sequel to Congrats! My Ex, it would be good to see Risa and Tim’s relationship as it progresses and perhaps Tim’s ex coming into the picture this time?
However, we’ll have to wait and see what the official word is from Amazon Prime Video on this one first.
If you want a cute and funny romcom to watch which does not make you cry buckets or pine over a second lead, then Congrats! My Ex is be a good choice.
