Carry-On is the latest Netflix Original taking the world by storm, with a high-stakes action thriller plot and some decent characters. After finishing this movie, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is Carry-On about?
While travelling during the holidays can be hectic, working at a major international airport during this time is equally overwhelming, especially when you’re being held hostage by a terrorist who’s using your loved ones as leverage to force you to meet their demands. This is exactly what happens to a young TSA agent, Ethan, on the day he decides to prove to his boss his renewed enthusiasm for the job.
This intense holiday thriller starring Taron Egerton, Jason Bateman, Sofia Carson, and Danielle Deadwyler takes us through the battle between Ethan and a mysterious traveller who wants to get a suitcase containing a deadly nerve agent on a flight.
Will there be a sequel for Carry-On?
At the time of writing, Carry-On has not been renewed for a sequel. Given the nature of the movie’s content, that could well change if it does good numbers for Netflix.
Generally Netflix would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a movie, including how many people initially watch it, the drop-off rate during the movie’s run-time and also the amount of buzz online using third-party analytic companies like Parrot Analytics.
With some movies, cancellations or renewals happen quickly but other times, it can take months before a decision is made over a movie’s future. So far, Carry-On has had a pretty good reaction from critics and audiences alike, with many discussing its action premise and how closely aligned it is to the old 90’s thrillers of the time.
Given the way this movie is set up, we’re predicting that this will be renewed for a sequel. Yes, that’s going out on a limb but given Netflix have renewed other movies around the holidays – like The Christmas Chronicles – then this one could well see a nod for a sequel.

Barely anything is known about a sequel at this point, given Netflix have green-lit a sequel. However, if this is renewed expect returning characters to show up, especially TSA agent Ethan, who could find himself with another similar race-against-time plot.
