Summary
- Abigail is a brutal vampire horror movie that was recently released in cinemas in the UK and US.
- The decision to renew a movie is based on various factors such as viewership numbers, production costs, and more.
- Right now, a sequel to Abigail seems likely, and we discuss the possibility of one (beware spoilers).
Radio Silence is back in the director’s chair for the vampire horror movie Abigail and created a very original and stylised take on the subgenre. Melissa Barrera takes the lead role of Joey, and the movie has been a moderate success at the box office.
But will there be an Abigail 2? Or do we have to settle for this vampire horror being a one-off? Here’s what we know at the time of writing:
What is Abigail about?
After a group of criminals kidnaps Abigail (Alisha Weir), the ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, they retreat to an isolated mansion, unaware that they’re locked inside with a little girl who isn’t so nice and innocent as she seems. When the criminals start turning up dead, Joey (Melissa Barrera) and Frank (Dan Stevens) must figure out what is going on. They discover that Abigail is a centuries-old vampire who is out for blood.
Will there be a sequel to Abigail?
Abigail 2 is possible, and highly likely as the ending of the movie left it open for more stories in the universe. Joey escapes the mansion, after Kristof Lazar (a.k.a Dracula) returns home to see his daughter, Abigail.
When could a sequel be released?
The sequel would have at least been discussed if it were in the works. However, since there is currently no information regarding Abigail 2, it is best to avoid getting your hopes up, as the likelihood of one is in the balance.
Of course, this is all speculation and if anything changes, we’ll be sure to update you!
