What is Exhuma about?
Exhuma follows the story of a young shaman – Hwa-rim who, along with her student Bong-gil goes to the United States to examine a child for being possessed. Hwa-rin and Bong-gil conclude that the child is carrying an ancestral curse, one that dates back to the child’s great-grandfather. Hwa-rim calls the curse a “Grave Calling” and asks to have the great-grandfather’s grave exhumed and cremated.

Will there be Exhuma 2?
At the time of writing, the makers have not announced a sequel to Exhuma.
Exhuma is written and directed by Jang Jae-hyun. Despite the amazing response the film has gotten globally, Jae-hyun has revealed that he does not have plans to release a sequel to Exhuma.
According to Screendaily, the filmmaker says “I have to continue to evolve. It’s important that I make something new. If I were to make a sequel (to Exhuma), I’d certainly make a lot of money, but I wouldn’t evolve as a director.”
So, this confirmation from the filmmaker makes it clear that Exhuma will not be renewed for a sequel.
What do we know about Exhuma 2?
Not much is known about Exhuma 2, at the moment given that it has not been greenlit. The film has a definite ending which makes it unlikely for there to be a sequel. While Exhuma narrates the tale of a Ghoul being released from the child’s grandfather’s grave, we can expect Hwa-rim, Bong-gil, Sang-deok and Yong-geun to get together for another similar case.
With all that in mind, we predict that Exhuma will not be renewed for Part 2. However, nothing is confirmed yet, but we’ll be sure to update this page as soon as any new information comes in.
