The brilliant Scott Frank returns to the realm of television four years hence after his smashing success with Netflix’s The Queen Gambit. Frank and co-creator Tom Fontana are the showrunners for Season 1 of Monsieur Spade, AMC’s new noir offering. Frank has taken the mantle of directing as well as co-writing all the episodes in the limited series. Clive Owen headlines AMC’s ambitious project, which will evolve around the character of Detective Sam Spade from Dashiell Hammett‘s novel The Maltese Falcon.
AMC has partnered up with the French Groupe Canal+ to co-produce the series. The mid-season review of the show is positive…mostly. While the narrative is ambitiously placed to match the source work’s depth and intensity, Season 1 has lacked continuity.

Where Can I Watch Monsieur Spade?
Monsieur Spade will be available to watch on the AMC channel for our cable network viewers in the US and Canada. The episodes will also be available to stream simultaneously on its streaming platform, AMC+. In addition to the host network, Acorn TV will also host the new episodes in these geographies. Presently, we are not aware of any more streaming options other than those mentioned above.
Unfortunately, for our readers in the UK, Australia, and the Indian sub-continent, Monsieur Spade Season 1 will not be available to stream at the same release time as in the US. However, we expect that to change in the coming weeks after the show makes its domestic debut.
Monsieur Spade Season 1 Episode 4 Release Date
Monsieur Spade Season 1 Episode 4 will be released on Sunday 4th February at 9 pm (ET)/(PT). Expect the runtime to be roughly 47 minutes or thereabouts, which is consistent with the time frame for shows of similar stature on the network. Additionally, viewers who miss the premiere can also catch a rerun of the first episode on 8th February (Thursday) at 2 pm on AMC.
The show will stick to a weekly release schedule after the first episode has aired, tugging the Sunday airings at the same time.
The new episode of Monsieur Spade does not have a specific title. The episode will be available to stream with subtitles. Its plot summary is currently not available. However, we can expect another thread of the story to unravel in the form of Zahid and his status as “The Mahdi.”
How Many Episodes Will Monsieur Spade Have?
Season 1 of Monsieur Spade will have a total of six episodes. After the fourth episode has aired, there will be two more episodes left in the series. What happened in Episode 3?
Episode 2 of Monsieur Spade introduces the character of Zahid more prominently in the narrative. One of the workers from the club, Sameer, brings him back to his house, where other members of his family and friends are gathered. They quickly call the Imam to advise them through this mess. However, the Imam quickly makes them aware of the boy’s identity and his importance to the community. Sam and the police brothers meet with the Vicar General of the Diocese to discuss the monk’s case.
They are informed that Friar Angelo has been apprehended and he will be taken to Rome for trial by the church. This irks Patrice but he is powerless as the Ministry of Interior has already signed off on the transfer. An American representative, Father Morgan, is also present at the meeting and his curiosity indicates that the Americans are also looking for Zahid.
Spade tries to set up a meeting with Philippe by tweaking a few nerves. He requests Dr Pochoul to tell Audrey that Teresa has been shot since Philippe is hard to get hold of in a direct way. A meeting is indeed set up later that day at the cemetery. But he is a no-show. Spade reaches the home in a panic, worrying that he might have kidnapped Teresa in Spade’s absence. But she is fine.
His fears come true a few moments later when Helena is attacked by two men in the kitchen. Spade is next as Teresa’s screams are heard in the distance. George, the artist, had earlier placed a portrait in the living room of the house with his mother Cynthia. They are revealed to be undercover agents of some sort, armed with guns and observing the house’s activities. But they don’t intervene and Teresa is taken away.
