Episode 12 Recap of ‘Miss Night and Day’
Our recap and review of ‘Miss Night and Day’ episode 12 begins with Baek taking Mi-jin, who is disguised as Lim Sun, hostage in the basement storage room of the Hwadong Medical Centre. It’s revealed that Baek had asked Mi-jin’s aunt, Lim Sun, who worked at a bank, to inform him if there were any withdrawals from his missing wife’s account, a typical instance of the ongoing disappearances in the city. However, suspicion of being the murderer fell on Lim Sun when she disappeared. Since then, Baek had been looking for Lim Sun to find the truth about his wife’s death.
Baek almost drugs Mi-jin when she doesn’t transform back into herself even after sunset. Luckily, Ji-ung finds her just in time, saves her, and arrests Baek. Later, after Mi-jin recuperates in the hospital, Ji-ung drops her home, promising to keep the kidnapping a secret from her parents.
The next day, Byung-duk makes Ji-ung laugh hysterically by assuming Lim Sun and Ko Won are dating. Lim Sun aggressively denies the accusation. Later, Ji-ung visits Mi-jin to give her tea as an excuse to see her briefly. She worries about the real culprit still being on the loose.
At the office the next day, Mi-jin volunteers to talk to Baek, who has been silent since his arrest. Inside the investigation room, she turns off her mic and tells him the truth about herself, showing him a video of her changing appearances. However, Baek does not believe her. She leaves him with the thought that if he doesn’t help her, she’ll be in danger while the real culprit is still out there. That night, Baek ponders over this exchange.
Later, Da-yeong accidentally meets with Byung-duk and finds out about Mi-jin’s kidnapping. She rushes over to Mi-jin’s house, and they share a warm moment where Da-yeong bawls her eyes out. It’s also here that we discover Mi-jin’s transformation length is increasing, raising the possibility that Mi-jin could permanently become Lim Sun.
At the same time, it’s revealed that Byung-duk was entangled in a scam marriage, and his fraudster wife had run away with all his money. Ji-ung vows to protect those he loves, recalling Mi-jin’s kidnapping event.
The next day, after work, Mi-jin visits the police station to testify as a witness because she’s worried about being the next target. Ji-ung visits the station to stop her, but she expresses how terrified she is. Ji-ung embraces her, and they share their first kiss as the episode ends.
The Episode Review
This episode was quite fun to watch. Mi-jin and Ji-ung have an adorable chemistry that simply cannot be overlooked, although the romcom arc is a bit overused. The charm of the drama is definitely in the execution of scenes. Despite working on a very typical plot, the K-drama manages to keep us thoroughly entertained.
One really touching scene in the episode is definitely the friendship between Mi-jin and Da-yeong. They are like family, and the love they have for each other reflects in the scene with Da-yeong worried about Mi-jin’s well-being. It’s definitely a tear-jerker moment right there. Overall, the episode was entertaining, and the mystery surrounding the real culprit is certainly intriguing.
