Episode 11
Our recap and review of ‘Miss Night and Day’ episode 11 begins with Ji-ung witnessing Ko Won confessing to Mi-jin. He also finds a suspicious car parked nearby and sends the car plate number for verification. The next day Ji-ung falls sick and takes a leave from work.
Lim Sun is troubled by his medical leave and reluctantly picks up medicine on her way back home. She later takes some soup and food that her mother had made for Ji-ung and ends up meeting Byung-deok, who drops off some porridge and hastily leaves.
Mi-jin prepares Ji-ung’s food and is about to leave when Ji-ung asks her to stay. He relays how his mother had disappeared while promising to return one night. “I didn’t want that promise to be a lie, that’s why I came here to Seohan,” he says. Later, Mi-jin goes back to Da-yeong’s place while Ji-ung finally eats some food. Mi-jin wonders if her aunt had not run away but also disappeared.
At the office, Lim Sun tries to avoid Ko Won after their last exchange while Byung-deok creates a misunderstanding where Ji-ung thinks that Ko Won and Mi-jin are dating.
Ji-ung then visits Mi-jin’s place again, the spot where the car was parked, and learns that it had left an hour ago from the officer posted at the scene. In a CCTV footage, we find that the car has been stalking Lim Sun but since the officer doesn’t know the connection between Lim Sun and Mi-jin, it doesn’t come across as odd to him.
We later discover that it was Baek Chul-Kyu who’d hired a man to follow Lim Sun. They find that there’s a connection between Mi-jin and Lim Sun. Later, Ji-ung ends up visiting Mi-jin’s house.
Elsewhere, we find that Baek Chul-Kyu cannot be reached. Mi-jin returns home to find Ji-ung, Da-yeong, her father, and her mother throwing a huge feast for the party. She later remembers it’s her aunt’s birthday and since they don’t have a death date for her, they celebrate her birthday instead.
Ji-ung later tells her that her father had found out about a letter from the prosecutor’s office which stated that the suspect would be prosecuted for fraud. He discovers the details of the fraud and feels that Mi-jin was burdened by her parents’ wishes. He still supports Mi-jin and feels bad she had to go through something like that and gives her some spending money to cheer her up.
The next day, Ji-ung’s team gets the approval for the raid at Hwadong Medical Centre. In the meantime, Ko Won investigates the identity of the person responsible for writing the tip about the senior intern’s identity. “They came here in the middle of the day to deliver the letter. It’s someone who works here,” he concludes. At the medical centre, while conducting the raid, Baek Chul-Kyu manages to take Lim Sun as a hostage in the basement storeroom.
When Ko Won alerts Ji-ung about not being able to reach Mi-jin, Ji-ung checks the location and ends up at the hospital trying to find her but to no avail. This is also when he receives a phone call that the car they were tracking disappeared after leaving Mi-jin’s house late at night and feels that she might be in danger.
The Episode Review
Well, it’s certain that there’s something wrong with Baek Chul-Kyu but whether he’s the serial killer is still uncertain. The show is no doubt enjoyable for those who find pleasure in the romcom setting with a light murder mystery.
It’s certainly not boring but definitely cliched and quite average for a romcom K-drama. The characters for once aren’t anything special. We have been listening to Ji-ung’s mother’s disappearance story for a while now, as we do Lim Sun’s disappearance story. There’s not much depth in how the characters are constructed either.
If Baek Chul-Kyu does come out as the culprit, it would make the show blander because we now expect an entirely different culprit to give us that little shock value for a mediocre mystery like this to be able to enhance the main story and prevent it from being monotonous and repetitive.
And that is all for our ‘Miss Night and Day’ episode 11 recap and review. We will meet you in the next one!
