Missing You – Season 1 Episode 2 Recap & Review

With Or Without You

Episode 2 of Missing You starts with big drama, as a couple are ripped apart by the woman’s infidelity. They’re up at a farm and a breeder by the name of Titus has done his homework and shows a picture of the wife kissing her neighbour. It destroys the family, and he satisfyingly sends them off the estate and to parts unknown. However, whoever this man is, he actually has Rishi kept in his barn.

Meanwhile, Kat shows up to see Stagger while he’s still in his dressing gown very early in the morning. She rambles on about Monte’s lies and reveals that she’s gone in to the prison and speak to him. Stagger is, well, staggered to hear this, especially as Kat wants to re-open the case and get Calligan questioned.

Stagger is shocked when Josh is brought up and connected to all this, but he hugs Kat and tells her she needs to let things go. Kat though is not in a particularly comforting mood and urges him to talk to Monte for himself.

Getting nowhere, Kat instead speaks to Stacey, her PI friend, and enlists her help, along with Aqua, to try and help solve the case. Clint and Josh had close ties in the past, and it does seem to fit together.

At the station, Kat does a press conference regarding Rishi’s disappearance. It’s out of character for him and he is, of course, over at the farmhouse as we know given the little scenes interspersed in this episode.

As for Kat, she’s approached by a kid called Brendan, who has a picture of Kat, and claims that his mum is missing and knows she’s the only one who can find her. She’s been missing for 6 days and always calls him every day. Brendan goes on to mention how Kat knows about loss so should be able to empathize.

Charlie does some research and tracks down Rishi’s contact with Vanessa. The line is disconnected though so they’re going to have to do some digging. There’s further drama though when Stagger reveals that Monte has passed away so they can’t grill him for further details.

At the same time, Titus wants to bargain with Rishi and threatens Vanessa, his beloved. Rishi promises to play ball and agrees to transfer money into Titus’ account. Only then, after blindfolding and taking him far away, will they leave him and Vanessa alone.

That night, Brendan breaks into Kat’s flat and bolts when she returns home. Apparently Kat has made some calls and his mum is absolutely fine. Brendan doesn’t believe that though, given the guy she went away with is trouble. Her boyfriend? Well, it’s Josh. He was in the apartment looking for details surrounding Josh, given he has ties with Kat in the past. Kat refuses to help, but it’s clear she’s definitely thinking it over.

Kat meets Stacey the next day and reveals that his online persona is gone. He’s not anywhere to be found, although the prison officer does remember seeing Josh. Furthermore, there’s an ATM charge the opposite direction to where the airport is, which throws further shade on everything.

When Kat speaks to Tamsin, she finds out that Stagger actually went into the prison with Josh to see Monte. Kat is not happy and heads over to Terrence’s leaving do, and crashes it, determined to find out the truth.

Kat questions Stagger, who points out that Josh’s boss was convinced that he could use Kat as leverage to get into the prison. It seemed to work, and Stagger went along with this because he wanted answers about Clint. The whole thing was for nothing and she didn’t want to stir the past up.

As we’re talking about the truth here, Kat admits she didn’t go through official channels and as a result of this, Stagger forces her out and suspends Kat indefinitely.

Speaking of the truth, Rishi breaks free from his binds and tries to escape the barn in the middle of the night. That’s probably just as well, as Titus manages to get what he needs, but Rishi’s accounts are frozen.

When he tries to high-tail it out, Rishi is whacked over the head with a shovel. However, as the camera pans across, we see there are multiple other individuals all tied up in the barn. Rishi though is taken out and burned, along with clothes that appear to belong to various other individuals who have gone missing. All of this includes a yellow dress which seems to be linked to Brendan’s mum.

As the episode closes out, it would appear that Stagger is more involved here than we thought, as shots from the past show him trying to clean blood off his clothes.

The Episode Review

Alas, the plot thickens. It would appear we’ve got a much larger conspiracy going on here, involving different branches of missing people and potentially Josh as well. I’d imagine he could well be a big part of all this, working as a sort of swindler to gain access to individuals using his charm.

Either way, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of him in the upcoming episodes. As for the rest of the cast, we’re still not seeing the bigger picture and it’ll be interesting to see exactly where the case goes next.
