Metallic Rouge – Season 1 Episode 9 Recap & Review

The Ones Who Visited

Episode 9 of Metallic Rouge starts with Rouge and the others continuing their battle. Naomi’s forces arrive and she tells them that she’ll be joining the battle soon. Before Aes can harm Rouge, Jean fires at Aes and rushes toward Rouge. Graufon attacks Jean and during their chatter, we learn the two have met before.

Graufon knocks Jean out and confronts Rouge. He demands Rouge to hand her I.D. over, otherwise, he’ll murder Jean. Eden (the Dark Gladiator) jumps in front of Rouge and protects her from Graufon and Aes. However, Jill arrives and strikes Eden at his core. She removes his I.D. with her weapon, causing Eden to return to his normal self.

Before they harm Rouge and Eden more, Naomi and her forces arrive to lend Rouge and her friends support. Realizing Rouge’s support group’s grown, Jill uses her Usurper landing ship to attack most of Naomi’s forces. Jill and the others attempt to escape. Eden tells Rouge to chase after them, but Cyan intervenes and battles Rouge.

While the two are fighting, Naomi ponders ways she can assist Rouge in battle. Naomi gives Rouge a tip that could help her defeat Cyan. Although Rouge doesn’t trust Naomi, she complies and uses this deform tactic. This allows her to knock Cyan away from her, making her unconscious. After the battle, Naomi, Ash, and Rouge reconcile somewhere in the Ministry of Truth HQ.

The three stare at Noid’s lifeless body and Naomi shares her condolences. While Naomi and Rouge head off somewhere, Ash meets with a researcher to see how Cyan’s coming along. Then, the two discuss Rouge and Naomi’s new venture and the Immortal Nine. While on a ship, Naomi surprises Rouge when she removes her space outfit.

Additionally, Naomi confirms she’s not a human. She’s a contact Nean the Visitors made to interact with humanity. Naomi turns the lights off and says several individuals want to speak with Rouge. The Visitors grace our protagonists’ presence and Naomi confirms they’re called X Noah.

Rouge’s surprised by their merfolk appearances. One of the X Noah puts on a human mouth mask and tells Rouge why they look the way they do. An X Noah refers to Naomi as “First” because she was the first Nean they made to look like a human. After the X Noah provides feedback on Naomi’s internal developments since she’s been with Rouge, Naomi tells Rouge she must remain on this ship.

Also, Naomi brings up the same statement Jill made regarding Rouge’s I.D. She ensures Rouge that she’s not betraying her again. Naomi says the X Noah believe Rouge will be safer in their custody. Moreover, the X Noah explain why they’re adamant about Neans and Code Eve even though they’re known for not interfering in human affairs.

The X Noah feel several Usurpers are among the Alters (Jill’s group) and if Code Eve is activated, many Neans will be rendered uncontrollable. Essentially, the X Noah fear that the Usurpers will use that opportunity to kickstart another war. Naomi says the Ursurpers are after the solar system. She argues the Usurpers want to extinguish the X Noah and humans.

Finally, the X Noah feel the Usurpers are after a specific planet, too. Naomi tells Rouge that Jill, Aes, and the others are among the Usurpers. Meanwhile, we see Jill and Jean discussing their plans. Jill wants to swipe Venus because it houses the most Neans and would be the perfect site for her rebellious base.

Additionally, Jill says Venus was the place where her kind was created so she feels it’s the perfect place to craft her ideal Nean-rich world. We return to following Rouge’s conversation with the X Noah. Rouge asks the X Noah about the Neans’ connections to Venus. The X Noah informs Rouge about their planetary search efforts, their history with humans, and how the humans offered them Venus in exchange for the X Noah’s technology.

Also, the humans created the Neans using the X Noah’s technology. They invented them because the humans wanted to aid the X Noah in reforming Venus into their new home planet. The X Noah refer to the Usurpers as (the Junoids) and deem them dangerous because the Junoids are known for murdering multiple civilizations.

Although they’re dangerous, the X Noah wants the Neans to remain under humanity’s control since they can be used to fight the Junoids. During their discussion, we see the Puppetmaster and his crew invading Venus. At the same time, we learn the Junoids are invading Jupiter. After Ash arrives at Ash’s residence, we cut to Rouge asking Naomi why she gave Rouge up to Ochrona.

Naomi says she felt it was the safest move to make because Naomi feels people would’ve dismantled Rouge. Rouge punches Naomi and extends her hand to her. She asks Naomi if she’ll stay by her side. Naomi says she will while making a snarky remark. Naomi tells the X Noah that she and Rouge will be traveling to Venus.

She understands it’d be better for her to remain here. However, since the Junoids are currently invading Venus, Naomi argues Rouge can resolve that issue with her powers. The X Noah comply. Yet, they plan to craft a new plan if Naomi’s mission doesn’t work out. Moreover, the X Noah tell Naomi she must remain here since she was never designed for combat missions.

Naomi asks the X Noah for a day off and explains why this can benefit her. The X Noah accept Naomi’s request. Then, we cut to Naomi and Rouge discussing Naomi’s experiences with the X Noah. Moreover, Rouge wonders how they’ll travel to Venus. Naomi receives an update from someone, signaling to Rouge that she found a way to travel there.

The two enter a new ship. The chapter closes with Naomi and Rouge reuniting with Ash and Eden.

The Episode Review

Metallic Rouge episode nine leaned toward the explanatory route this week. In this one, we received tidbits about this world’s human history regarding the X Noah and Junoids species. Moreover, this chapter unveiled that Naomi is a Nean, something that’ll catch some viewers by surprise.

Also, this chapter had pleasing visuals and animation. We anticipate the scene regarding Naomi’s spiel about her true origins will be the talk of the town online. This is due to how fluid the animation appeared during said sequence.

While this episode offers impressive lore and favorable visuals, it has some issues. For instance, some fans may not adore how Rouge and Naomi resolved their issues with each other swiftly. While a punch to the face feels like a satisfying form of atonement, the showrunners could’ve opted for a more dramatic and lengthy resolution.

By and large, this was an interesting chapter of Metallic Rouge. While this series isn’t a perfect sci-fi endeavor, it has some intriguing components that’ll keep viewers entertained.
