Master of the House — Episode 2 “The Offer” Recap & Review

Episode 2 Recap

The recap of Episode 2 of Master of the House titled “The Offer” starts with Kaimook getting ready for her first breakfast as the late Roongroj’s wife. She sits at the table with the rest of the Thevasatitpaisarn family.

Mavin asks Shutter to prepare for the upcoming polo match against their company – Theva Gems’ biggest rival. Phupat misses the breakfast while the maid serves Kaimook her food. Shutter and Kita are disgusted with Kaimook’s presence at the table and leave. Kaimook tries to be nonchalant but finds a piece of hair in her food and gets upset.

Araya makes a scene and tries to punish the maid who prepared Kaimook’s meal. Kaimook stops Araya but the latter asks Kaimook to punish the culprit. Padcha intervenes and tells Kaimook that the hair found in the soup is quite similar to Araya’s hair. Kaimook realizes that Araya was trying to make things difficult for her on purpose.

At the same time, Phupat tries to convince the members of Theva Gems to make him the sole executive of the company. Mavin learns about this and stops the board of trustees from voting. The brothers argue about who is more deserving of the company. At the Thevasatitpaisarn house, Kaimook is in Roongroj’s room when a fellow maid named Bee shows up.

Bee tells Kaimook that she is not safe living in the house because Roongroj’s family hates her. Just then, Araya asks to meet Kaimook and invites her to a charity event as Roongroj’s wife. Araya tells Kaimook that she will make sure she’s is dressed well for the event and takes her to get a custom outfit made for the night.

That evening, the housemaids are watching a show featuring Araya as an actress. Kaew, the maid that Mavin is hooking up with shows up there and wears one of Araya’s dresses. Kaew drinks some wine at the bar inside the house but ends up throwing up the alcohol. A flashback shows Kaew’s boyfriend – Tian – introducing her to Mavin, to have her join the Thevasatitpaisarn house as a maid.

Mavin looks at Kaew lustfully and allows her to take up the job as a maid. That night, Mavin meets Krit and tries to bribe him to change Roongroj’s will. He asks Krit to same him as the sole beneficiary of Roongroj’s will but the lawyer refuses. Mavin is upset and calls Tian, giving him some orders.

On the other hand, Phupat and Padcha talk about the upcoming charity event. Padcha tells Phupat that Kita wants to study in New York but he scolds his wife, stating he wants Kita to study in France. On the other hand, Mavin is having angry sex with Kaew and she tells him that she is pregnant. Mavin gets upset with Kaew and assaults her, asking her to abort the child.

Kaew meets Tian who tells her that he is willing to take responsibility for the child. Meanwhile, Kaimook tries to look into the CTV footage from the night of Roongroj’s death. She learns that the footage from the cameras outside Roongroj’s room and the balcony was deleted. At the polo match, Mavin is confident about Theva Gems’ victory against their opponents  – Gentle Gems.

Padchara and Phetye from Gentle Gems verbally argue with Mavin about their respective businesses. Phupat joins the conversation and Padchara suggests that Gentle Gems and Theva Gems work together to take on the global market. Phupat agrees with the decision but Mavin disagrees. To Mavin’s surprise, Theva Gems loses the match and he gets upset with Shutter for embarrassing him.

Later that evening, Kaimook shows up at the black-tie charity event in a red gown. She is embarrassed to see that everyone including Araya and the rest of the guests and the members of the Thevasatitpaisarn family were dressed in black and white. Kaimook gets upset when she learns that Araya has tricked her. She is caught off-guard when the host calls her on stage to give a speech as Roongroj’s wife.

Araya steps up and gives an emotional speech in honour of Roongroj.  Phupat feels side-lined by the gesture as he had prepared a speech for the event. At the event, Mavin shows Krit a video of his daughter – Amy doing drugs. He blackmails Krit into changing up Roongroj’s will as per his terms.

At the same time, Kaimook cries in the bathroom as Tian takes Kaew to the abortion centre. That night, Kaimook takes back her job as a maid and tells Araya she does not want to be a part of the Thevasatitpaisarn family.

Araya embarrasses Kaimook by placing her foot on Kaimook’s head, treating her like a dog as the episode ends. Now that we are done with the recap of Episode 2 of Master of the House, let’s head on to the review.

The Episode Review

The characters in this show are a lot weirder than what we have seen in regular Thai dramas over the years. From Phupat’s drug addiction, Mavin’s roleplay addiction as well and Roongroj’s affair with his maid who is half his age, the male characters of the Thevasatitpaisarn family are very weird.

It is clear that Mavin has manipulated the lawyer into changing Roongroj’s will but I wonder why. If he did kill Roongroj, it would be very difficult for Kaimook to prove it considering how evil and viscous he was. However, I wonder if Phupat killed Roongroj because he too went into Roongroj’s room on the night of his birthday party.
