Mashle: Magic and Muscles – Season 2 Episode 12 Recap, Review & Ending Explained

Mash Burnedead and His Good Friends

Episode 12 of Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 2 begins with Dot and Kaldo confronting someone. Before they interrogate him, Orter arrives and defeats him with his magic. Orter confronts Kaldo about Mash and says he doesn’t plan to accept him. Kaldo says he hasn’t accepted Mash either, however, he tells Orter that there will come a time when he will accept Mash.

What does the narrator inform the audience about?

We cut to a shot of Easton Magic Academy. The narrator says it’s been several days since Innocent Zero’s assault on the academy. Since then, news about his assault has spread across the globe. The news team wrote that the Divine Visionaries drove Zero away.

However, several people know that’s not the case. Then, the narrator claims the Bureau of Magic responded to it all by fortifying security and regulating information. As for Mash, the narrator claims he and his friends responded by visiting the beach and having fun.

What happens to Mash and his friends during their beach outing?

Finn’s unsure if they should spend time at the beach, but Dot and Mash suggest they have fun. While Mash and Dot play in the ocean, Finn chats with Lance and Lemon. They discuss Mash’s relation to Zero and what will happen to Mash now that several people know he’s Zero’s son.

Wahlberg arrives and chimes in. Finn and the others wonder why Wahlberg is visiting the beach. Wahlberg says he wants to enjoy the weather. After that’s settled, Wahlberg claims Mash will never attain the peace he’s hoping for until he defeats Zero. Wahlberg informs the three about Zero’s current powers and the five powerful brothers on par, if not, greater than him.

While their chances are slim, Wahlberg feels Mash can overcome those brothers and Zero through strength and spirit. Mash promises Wahlberg that he’ll defeat all the enemies in his way and graduate with his friends. Lance reminds Mash about the end-of-semester exams he and the others must take before the Divine Visionary Elect Final Exam. Mash panics at the thought of the end-of-semester exams.

What happens to Mash and his friends when they return to Easton Magic Academy?

After we check in with Regro and Brad, we continue following Mash and his friends at Easton Magic Academy. Lemon informs the audience that they gave Mash a mock exam to tackle. Mash doesn’t do great on those exams and we cut to him panicking. While he panics, Dot says he can offer Mash some studying assistance. Ultimately, everyone from Lance to Lemon assists Mash with his studies like Magical Mathematics and Magical Linguistics.

Mash’s overwhelmed by the amount of intel they’re all feeding him. Lance reminds Mash if he doesn’t do well on these exams, he’ll be expelled. Mash sits down and tries to focus on his studies. Everyone stares at him menacingly. Suddenly, Mash leaves his desk and jumps out the window on his left to escape. Lance tells the others not to chase after Mash. He says it’d be boring for him to teach someone who doesn’t want to learn.

What happens between Mash, Finn, and the others?

Despite Lance’s advice, Finn leaves to find Mash. Finn finds Mash and is baffled that he buried himself in the ground. Mash tells Finn that he doesn’t like studying so Finn encourages Mash to try harder. Mash and Finn return to the study area where Lance, Dot, and Lemon are present.

He apologizes to the three and asks them to teach him. We receive a montage of Lemon and the others helping Mash study.

What happens before and after Mash takes his end-of-semester exam?

Then exam day arrives. Mash tries his best to take the exam. After that, Lemon and the others comfort Mash. While doing so, Mash repeatedly says he wants to graduate with everyone. Mash’s teacher calls out to him. He reports to her. Mash’s teacher acknowledges Mash’s academic faults in front of him. She hands Mash his exam and he learns that he passed.

Although Mash’s teacher says he didn’t pass exceptionally, she knows he’ll put in the effort when the occasion calls for it. Lemon and the others praise Mash. Mash says it was easy so Dot torments him for acting cocky. Suddenly, Tom enters the classroom and repeatedly says “Bamboo it.” Lance and Dot translate what Tom’s saying to the others.

Lance and Dot say everyone who reads the newspaper knows that Easton Magic Academy is allowing a Lackmagic to attend the campus. Additionally, those people are heading toward Easton because they’re not thrilled that Mash is attending the school.

What happens when Mash’s friends try to calm the angry mob down?

Lemon exits the building and yells at the angry mob. She sticks up for Mash and tells the crowd they shouldn’t judge someone’s worth based on their magic skills. The crowd ignores Lemon’s remark and claims she’s an outsider. Lemon says she’s not and claims she’s Mash’s wife to everyone’s dismay. To calm the crowd down, Dot exits the building with shades on. He tells the crowd that he’s Mash’s agent.

Dot reads a letter Mash seemingly wrote. After the message, Dot holds up his middle finger, angering the crowd further. Lemon and Dot argue with the crowd some more. Someone throws a rock at Lemon, angering Mash. Before Mash gets involved, Lance stops him and tells him to endure what’s happening. Lemon says if they want to punish Mash, then she’ll take the punishment alongside him.

After recalling a previous encounter with Mash, Lemon tells the crowd that Mash is a kind soul. One of the folks in the crowd entices the others to continue throwing rocks at Lemon.

How does Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 2 end?

Before they hit her, Mash exits the building and starts grabbing the rocks. The sorcerer who riled up the crowd uses his Prison Wall spell to trap Mash. Mash breaks free and traps the sorcerer inside his prison wall. Then, Mash tells the crowd he plans to become the best in the Magic Realm. Also, he plans to prove to them that you can be the best even if you’re a Lackmagic.

Wahlberg appears and apologizes to the crowd for causing a stir. He says Mash’s fate will be decided after the Divine Visionary Candidate Exam. He asks the crowd to wait patiently. Then, Wahlberg tells Mash that there will come times when people won’t have others at their side. He congratulates Mash for making exceptional friends at Easton Magic Academy.

Mash looks into the sky and promises Wahlberg he’ll become a Divine Visionary. Wahlberg tells Mash that if he fails, the Magic Realm will criminalize the people who defended him. If Mash wants to achieve his life-long goals, Wahlberg says he must pass the exam.

After some final remarks from the narrator, Mash turns to the audience. The season ends with Mash saying he’ll knock the stuffing out of anyone who gets in his way with his fists.

The Episode Review

While the Divine Visionary Candidate Exam isn’t done yet, it’s nice knowing that Mash is still in the running for it all. It’s unfortunate we didn’t get to see other one-on-one battles from the prior phase take place. Moreover, this episode doesn’t touch upon that portion much, which may bother some folks who wanted to see how things would go for the candidates who passed The Life Crystal and Deadervant Haunt trials.

Nevertheless, we’re optimistic that the final Divine Visionary Candidate Exam phase will produce favorable results. Those matters aside, this episode was jam-packed with a bunch of humor. While some jokes and gags were genuinely hysterical, others felt lackluster.

Additionally, Lemon’s secondary speech was a bit watered-down due to her strange obsession with Mash. While the running gag between her and Mash is charming (at times), it’d been great if the showrunners cut the comedic portions out and let the serious moments shared during her speech play out more. It’d at least give viewers something favorable from Lemon since she didn’t do much this season, unlike other supportive figures in Mash’s entourage.

Overall, this was a decent season finale.
