Mashle: Magic and Muscles – Season 2 Episode 10 Recap & Review

Wahlberg Baigan And The Greatest Danger

Episode 10 of Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 2 begins with Ryoh and his student companion Nerey arriving at Easton Magic Academy. Nerey pauses and Ryoh questions what’s wrong with him. After examining Easton’s developments, Ryoh assumes someone paused time within this domain. Also, he feels this only affects those with low magical power.

Ryoh arrives on the battlefield. Kaldo and Orter inform him about their situation and how several Easton students, including Mash, helped them deal with their zombie and Cell War problem. Orter tells Ryoh that Wahlberg is fighting Innocent Zero somewhere. Mash leaves to find Wahlberg. Meanwhile, Orter plans to interrogate Cell War. Before he does, Cell War disappears.

Orter wonders what happened. Macaron interrupts Orter’s investigation and tells Orter that another Innocent Zero member might be around the battlefield. Orter plans to investigate the area to find this potential Zero member. Meanwhile, Kaldo insists that he and the others stand by to look after the student body. Meanwhile, we shift to Zero’s battle with Wahlberg.

Zero’s thrilled he got to see Wahlberg’s spatial magic in action. He and Wahlberg continue fighting. Wahlberg relies on his space magic while Zero uses time magic. Zero overwhelms Wahlberg with his time capabilities. In the middle of their fight, Zero tells Wahlberg he’s more powerful than Wahlberg. Zero credits his ego as a major factor in why he feels this way.

In a flashback, Wahlberg reflects on his sad and lonely past life. This resulted in him having a pessimistic view of the world. However, Adam helped Wahlberg develop a change of heart toward things. In the present, Wahlberg tells Zero that he doesn’t want to abandon those weaker than himself. He plans to stop Zero here and now. Walhberg summons a giant mech-like being called Uranus Inclination to the battlefield.

Additionally, Wahlberg engulfs Uranus, himself, and Zero in a space-like dimension. Zero tries using one of his time-themed spells on Wahlberg, but Wahlberg says it won’t do him any good. Zero uses a new time spell to freeze Wahlberg and Uranus. Zero proceeds to assault Wahlberg with more time spells. He resumes time but Wahlberg still has some fighting power in him.

He plans to use one more attack that’ll seal Zero’s fate in exchange for his life. Wahlberg shares an emotional speech with Zero and unleashes his attack. However, Wahlberg opens his eyes and realizes that he and Zero are okay. Wahlberg wonders if Zero reversed time to prevent their demise. Before Zero kills Wahlberg, Mash arrives and attacks Zero.

Mash reminds Wahlberg that he’d knock the stuffing out of someone regardless if they’d overpower him. The episode closes with Mash planning to fight Zero.

The Episode Review

Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 2 continues teetering toward the enjoyable spectrum of things. Unlike last week’s chapter, this episode gives fans a glimpse of Wahlberg’s life as a young wizard. From his lonely lifestyle to his pessimistic views on life, it’s great that Adam played a significant role in helping Wahlberg see the joys of life.

While Wahlberg’s backstory was a necessary inclusion, many would’ve preferred exploring his background further. Instead, we rush through his background to continue following his battle with Zero, which was subpar at best. Granted, it was wonderful seeing Wahlberg and Zero pull off tricks to catch the other off-guard, but compared to most shonen battles, this one felt okay.

Fortunately, Wahlberg and Zero aren’t dead yet. We’re hopeful Mash and Zero’s fight will produce similar results to Mash’s first battle with Cell War in season one. This would give the author a chance to explore Zero’s character at a timely pace.

Overall, this was a decent episode of Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 2. While the series seems to be alluding to Mash defeating Zero, we hope the battle will conclude with a stalemate.
