Episode 4
The episode begins with Ha-na wondering about Cheol-hui’s whereabouts the previous night. Meanwhile, Na Ji-won officially joins the marriage boost department as an intern, abandoning her earlier dreams of marrying rich.
Trouble arises at the department when their website goes down. After some investigation, it is revealed that the service provider has shut down their business. While the team scrambles to find an alternative, Ha-na is tasked with accompanying Gi-jun to Cheol-hui’s photoshoot, allowing the others to focus on resolving the website issue and keeping it a secret from Gi-jun.
At the photoshoot, Cheol-hui—now the face of the department—surprises everyone by dressing up impressively. Back at the office, the team convinces Na Ji-won’s uncle, a web developer, to help fix their website. Thankfully, he succeeds, restoring the site before the issue worsens.
Later that evening, In-a visits Cheol-hui at the restaurant, and the two share a conversation about their mutual value for honesty in relationships. Meanwhile, Ha-na and Gi-jun take a walk down memory lane, reminiscing about their college days and former relationship. This time, Ha-na firmly ends any lingering emotional ties, emphasizing that their lives are now on separate paths.
On her way home, Ha-na is followed by an unknown figure. Fortunately, she runs into Cheol-hui, who ensures she gets home safely.
The next day, the department receives an unexpected application—from Na Ji-won’s uncle. He meets with Cheol-hui at the restaurant, where Cheol-hui encourages him to pursue a woman he likes. Encouraged, the uncle sets up a date with the woman, and she accepts. Their successful pairing marks the first official match by the marriage boost department.
At home, while talking with his niece, Cheol-hui reflects on the importance of timing. Determined to come clean about the secret he’s been hiding from Ha-na, he sets out to talk to her. However, the episode ends with Cheol-hui hastily hugging Ha-na to prevent her from seeing the words “Get Lost” spray-painted on her car.
The Episode Review
Much like the previous episode, this one lacks excitement or meaningful progression. The storyline feels weak, and the sudden introduction of a potential threat to Ha-na does little to improve the narrative. The characters remain shallow and underdeveloped, making it difficult to stay invested in their arcs.
The initial episodes of Marry You offered some memorable moments and Lee Yi-kyung’s comedic charm, but this week’s episodes have been dull and completely bland. With the major conflict between Ha-na, Gi-jun, and In-a resolved sloppily, the show struggles to establish a strong narrative hook or compelling conflict to drive the story forward.
