Mario Vs. Donkey Kong Guide: Mystic Forest Plus

Level 7-1+
Mystic Forest is back and this introductory “Plus Level” offers quite the challenge. First, use the yellow spring on your right to land on the wooden platform where your Mini-Mario Toy is located. Do not activate your Mini-Mario Toy yet. Instead, perform Mario’s Double Handstand Jump to jump over your Mini-Mario Toy.
You want to land on the yellow spring that’s to the right of it. We’ll be activating him later. Anyways, use that spring to land on the wooden platform where the Spear Guy is located. You want to be on the left of the Spear Guy. Wait for him to spot you. When he does, perform the Double Handstand Jump to jump over him.
You should be on the right side while he’s on the left. If so, navigate Mario to the blue switch on the right. Wait for the Spear Guy to walk over to the red platform. When he does, activate the blue switch. Doing so will result in him falling to the next floor level below as shown above.
When he lands down there, navigate Mario to the same location. Try to have Mario be on the left of the Spear Guy. Once you do that, swiftly navigate Mario to the red switch on the left and jump to grab the red present hovering over the blue platform. Activate the red switch as soon as the same Spear Guy is on top of the blue platform as shown above.
He’ll plummet to the next bottom floor level. Join that Spear Guy at the bottom floor level. Once you do, make sure Mario is on the right side while the Spear Guy is on the left. Entice him to come near Mario and perform the Double Handstand Jump to leap over the fellow. Now Mario should be on the left and the Spear Guy on the right.
If so, travel to the blue switch on your left. Entice this Spear Guy one more time to come near you. When he rushes across the red platform near the locked door, activate the blue switch. The Spear Guy will plummet toward the spikey path below the locked door. With this Spear Guy out of the way, your Mini-Mario Toy will have an easier time getting to the locked door.
Before we head for the Mini-Mario Toy, travel to the bottom left side where the other Spear Guy is to the right of a blue present. Once there, perform your bait and Double Handstand Jump method to leap over the Spear Guy and nab the blue present. Perform another Double Handstand Jump to leap over that Spear Guy again.
Then, use the yellow spring near the red invisible square to leap and land on that conveyor belt on your left. Once you do that, crouch with Mario to pass through that little gap. Then, use the yellow spring that’s to the left of the conveyor belt to reach the Mini-Mario Toy’s location. Activate the Mini-Mario Toy and navigate Mario to the right.
Drop through the gap where an invisible red rectangle is located. and land on the wooden platform near the yellow present. Wait for your Mini-Mario Toy to accompany you there. Then head to the right and touch the grassy structure that’s underneath the yellow present. Wait for your Mini-Mario Toy to join you.
Once your Mini-Mario Toy is near you, jump on it. Then turn right and perform a Double Handstand Jump. Try to land near the activated blue switch like I did. Head to the far right corner and stop. Let your Mini-Mario Toy grab the yellow present for you. Once it does, drop through that gap where the invisible and horizontal red rectangle is located.
Once you regroup with your Mini-Mario Toy there, head to your left and activate the red switch in that direction. Do this when your Mini-Mario Toy is on the blue platform. Your Mini-Mario Toy will drop and land on a wooden platform. Reunite with your Mini-Mario Toy at that new location and navigate Mario to the locked door on his right.
Wait at the locked door and let your Mini-Mario Toy unlock the door for you. You’ll receive this victory screen afterward. Congrats!
Level 7-2+
For Level 7-2+, activate your Mini-Mario Toy. Then, ascend the small wooden ladder on your right. When you’re on the wooden platform, activate the metal switch on your right and turn left. Perform the Double Handstand Jump to nab yourself the yellow present. Next, descend the wooden ladder you used earlier.
When you’re with your Mini-Mario Toy, travel to the right and crouch with Mario when you’re on the conveyor belt. Do not press the A button when you land on the yellow spring that’s on the bottom floor level. This will allow you to land on the bottom floor level. Now, turn left and head in that direction to nab yourself the red present.
After that, turn right and use the yellow spring to join your Mini-Mario Toy on the floor level where a grassy structure is between two wooden platforms. Once there, navigate Mario to the left and activate the metal switch in that direction. Then, turn right and use this level’s yellow springs and conveyor belts to reach the top conveyor belt on your right.
Crouch with Mario to avoid the Piranha Plant on the right and perform the Double Handstand Jump on land on the second conveyor belt on the right. When you’re on that conveyor belt, keep running in the right direction. This will allow your Mini-Mario Toy to reunite with you on that conveyor belt.
Next, turn left and perform the Double Handstand Jump to help Mario land safely on the locked door’s platform. When he does, head left and jump on the conveyor belt on your left. While navigating Mario to the left metal switch, jump upward to obtain the blue present above the conveyor belt you’re using.
After all that, head to the far left corner and crouch with Mario. Wait for your Mini-Mario Toy to join you at the top where the metal switch is located. Once it’s near you, activate the metal switch and tread carefully to the locked door on your right. While on the conveyor belt that’s to the left of it, crouch with Mario.
Then, head to the locked door on your right and let your Mini-Mario Toy unlock it for you. You’ll receive the above victory screen afterward. Congratulations!
Level 7-3+
First, head to your right and activate the Mini-Mario Toy. Then, navigate Mario to the bottom and wait for a Bob-omb to pop out of the Bob-omb Cannon. When one pops out, grab it. Then, head right and ensure Mario’s underneath the red platform. Next, perform Mario’s Up-Throw to toss the Bob-omb on the red platform.
Wait for it to explode. Once it does, grab another Bob-omb and activate the blue switch underneath the red platform. After that, navigate to the yellow spring on your left and use it to reach the wooden platform above it. Once you do, turn right and jump toward the wooden platform that features a red switch. Toss your Bob-omb toward the set of crumbling blocks.
While you’re waiting for that Bob-omb to explode, drop toward the blue platform that’s underneath the wooden platform with the red switch on it. Head to the right and nab the red present that’s hovering over the blue platform. Once your Bob-omb explodes, reunite with your Mini-Mario Toy on the bottom floor level.
After that, head to your left and use the yellow spring to help Mario land on the wooden platform on the left. Then, turn right and head for the red switch that’s on the wooden platform on your right. Activate the red switch when your Mini-Mario Toy is on the blue platform. This will cause it to land on the red platform you tossed the first Bob-omb on.
Once your Mini-Mario Toy lands on the red platform, navigate Mario to the right. Activate the blue switch in that area once your Mini-Mario Toy passes the red block on the right. This will allow it to travel on the blue block pathway on the bottom floor level. Additionally, you’ll want to hop around with Mario to entice your Mini-Mario Toy to leap and nab you the blue present.
While your Mini-Mario Toy’s doing that, jump upward and nab the yellow present. After that, grab a Bob-omb in that area and toss the Bob-omb three horizontal crumbling blocks on your right. Wait for it to explode. When it does, descend toward the locked door and let your Mini-Mario Toy unlock it for you. You’ll receive this victory screen afterward.
Level 7-4+
This level can be a tricky one, as you’ll want to avoid getting hurt by the cannon’s horizontal, vertical, and slightly slanted cannonballs. First, navigate Mario to the right and activate the Mini-Mario Toy in that direction. After that, turn left and use the yellow spring in that direction to land on the wooden platform above it.
Next, turn right, and as I’m doing, travel to the yellow spring on the right. When you’re near the red present in the middle, jump to claim it. Once you reach the yellow spring on your right, use it to reach the long wooden platform above it. Then, turn left and use the yellow spring on your left to reach another wooden platform that features a yellow spring on the right side.
Once you reach that wooden platform, travel to the yellow spring on your right. Use it to land on the conveyor belt as shown above. When you and your Mini-Mario Toy are on it, swiftly perform a Double Handstand Jump to land on the grassy structure shown above. Afterward, keep running to the right until your Mini-Mario Toy nabs you the blue present.
Once it does, safely descend to the area where the yellow spring shown above is located. Navigate Mario to the left and use the rope on that side to grab the yellow present. You could go after the yellow present first before gunning for the blue present. But for the sake of my playthrough, I went for the blue present first.
Nonetheless, if you’re following this guide, then navigate to the yellow spring on your right and use it to land on that same conveyor belt we used earlier for the blue present segment. This time, when you’re on that conveyor belt, head to your left and use the yellow spring in that area to land on the same wooden platform I’m on as shown above.
When you do, navigate Mario to the locked door on the right. Let your Mini-Mario Toy unlock it for you. You’ll receive this victory screen afterward.
Level 7-5+
Those pesky bats return in Level 7-5+ but try not to pay them any mind. Navigate Mario to the first rope on the left. Ascend that rope to the top to claim the red present. Then, keep heading left because you want to activate the Mini-Mario Toy whose resting on that wooden platform on the left. Once you activate the Mini-Mario Toy, turn right and grab the ropes on your right. For your convenience, have Mario in the same position as shown below.
When your Mini-Mario Toy is on the conveyor belt like mine is, navigate Mario to the left and descend the wooden ladder on your left. You’ll arrive on a wooden platform which is to the left of two ropes. Use those ropes to reach a medium-sized wooden platform on your right.
Once you’re on that platform, wait for your Mini-Mario Toy to drop on the long conveyor belt above Mario. When he lands on it, turn left and travel to the long wooden ladder we used earlier. Once again, wait for your Mini-Mario Toy to reunite with you there. Now, we’re going to be using a trick we used for Level 7-1+ next.
First, descend the ladder on your right and make sure Mario’s touching the ladder he just used to descend to the Spear Guy’s platform. When the Spear Guy rushes toward you, jump upward and tilt your analog stick upward to quickly ascend the wooden ladder and avoid touching the Shy Guy. Next, run off the wooden platform’s edge that you’re on now.
You should be to the right of the small wooden ladder and the Spear Guy now. Wait for him to rush you again and perform Mario’s Backflip to leap over the Spear Guy. Before the Spear Guy rushes toward the rope on your right, navigate Mario slightly to the right. You want your Mini-Mario Toy to accompany him on the wooden platform. Refer to the image below.
Now, swiftly ascend the ladder to the left of Mario. Once you’re on the wooden platform above, run to the left and stop at the long wooden ladder. Your Mini-Mario Toy will use the yellow spring on the left to reach you. Simultaneously, it’ll nab you the yellow present during his short venture to you. Now you both should be by the long wooden ladder.
If so use the same scheme we used earlier to entice the Spear Guy to rush toward the left side. This time, jump upward and grab the middle ropes to avoid getting hurt by that Spear Guy. When you do, navigate Mario to the right and descend the long rope on that side to this bottom floor level.
During your outing, your Mini-Mario Toy will safely navigate toward Mario and reunite with him on the grassy structure that appears on the far right side. Refer to the image above. Once you’re near this level’s bottom floor level, jump to your left. Use the small rope on your left to swiftly propel yourself toward the blue present on your left.
Once you obtain the blue present, navigate Mario to the hammer on the left. Use the hammer to defeat the Spear Guy on the bottom floor level. After that, perform an Up-Throw to get rid of the hammer. Then, navigate Mario to the left and wait for his Mini-Mario Toy to unlock the door for you. You’ll receive this victory screen afterward. Good job!
Level 7-6+
This is another level where you’re better off activating the Mini-Mario Toy later. Having said that, perform a Double Handstand Jump and tilt your analog stick to the left to land on the grassy structure that’s to the left of your Mini-Mario Toy. Once you do, navigate to your left and nab the red present. Be careful of those cannons vertical and slanted cannonballs.
Once you nab the red present and reach the far left side. Grab a Bob-omb and toss him toward the crumbling block that’s guarding the blue present. Wait for him to be inside the tiny gap that’s between an invisible blue square and a crumbling block. When he does, activate the blue switch on the left.
Like my Bob-omb, he should be trapped inside the gap. Wait for him to explode. When he does, navigate Mario to the far right side again where your Mini-Mario Toy is located. Once again, be mindful of those cannonballs. Once you activate your Mini-Mario Toy, use the blue ladder on your right to reach the yellow switch’s location.
Activate the yellow switch. Use the yellow block platforms to grab the long wire on your left. Navigate Mario to the left using the long wire. Be mindful of the cannonballs and your Mini-Mario Toy’s safety. During this process, you’ll obtain the yellow present. Once you pass the yellow blocks on your left, drop toward the grass structure on your left.
Jump from the yellow platform on your left to reach the locked door’s location in that same direction. Wait for your Mini-Mario Toy to reunite with you there. Allow your Mini-Mario Toy to unlock the door for you, too. You’ll receive this victory screen afterward. With that out of the way, let’s give Donkey Kong a thrashing.
Mystic Forest Plus – Donkey Kong Boss Fight |

Compared to the “Plus Levels,” this Donkey Kong battle is simple and easygoing. Essentially, Donkey Kong will be tossing Bob-ombs on the left and right sides of the screen. These Bob-ombs will be using the conveyor belts to travel toward the bottom. As always, they’ll explode over time. Moreover, Donkey Kong will press the metal switch in front of him. This will cause the conveyor belts shown above to change directions. Along with the crumbling blocks and spikey path shown below, you’ll want to tread carefully. As Mario, wait for a Bob-omb to appear near you. Then, safely grab a Bob-omb and try to ascend to the top. Once you do, throw your Bob-omb at Donkey Kong to hurt him. You must repeat this process four times to defeat Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong will ramp up his metal switch activating and Bob-omb throwing shenanigans pace over time. As long as you keep ascending the level safely and throwing Bob-ombs at him, you’ll win. |
After the battle, Donkey Kong will throw a tangent on screen. Then, he’ll grab his Mini-Mario Toy sack and high-tail it out of the area. This results in Mario chasing after the ape. This ends the “Mystic Forest Plus” portion of the game.
