Let Any One of You Who Has Never Been Dumped Be the First to Throw a Stone at the Losing Heroine
Episode 6 of Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines begins with Mitsuki confronting Kazuhiko outside of the shop they were in. Mitsuki wonders why Kazuhiko was with Chihaya in the changing booth. Kazuhiko refuses to answer. He tells Mitsuki to explain why he’s been fooling around with Lemon.
Mitsuki says he’s been hanging out with Lemon because he sought relationship advice from her. Kazuhiko tells Mistuki he was with Chihaya because he sought relationship advice from Lemon. Mitsuki thinks Kazuhiko is smitten with one of the literature club girls. He suggests Kazuhiko call one of them.
Mitsuki insists he, Kazuhiko, and the others should hang out together. Later, we see Kazuhiko and Anna at the airport. Anna says Chihaya’s glad Mistuki wasn’t cheating on her with Lemon. Then, Mistuki, Chihaya, and Lemon arrive at the airport. They greet Kazuhiko and Anna. The five visit an underground museum and Anna pulls Kazuhiko aside.
Anna argues this isn’t a great place to bring her, Lemon, and Chihaya. Then, Chihaya and Lemon react positively to the museum’s belongings. This makes Anna feel alienated. Kazuhiko and Lemon discuss Mitsuki and Chihaya’s situation. The former suggests they spend time with Mitsuki and Chihaya but Lemon refuses. Lemon doesn’t want to spoil their fun.
She tells Kazuhiko not to worry about her as she wants to be Mitsuki and Chihaya’s cheerleader. Later, our group arrives at a planetarium show. Mitsuki tells Kazuhiko that he will try to lead Chihaya and Lemon to a different location. He wants to give Kazuhiko and Anna some space. Mitsuki confronts Lemon and asks her to watch the show with him and Chihaya.
Lemon refuses and lists reasons why. After Lemon tells Mitsuki she fell in love with him in the past and should get his act together, matters get awkward between our group. Lemon realizes she confessed her hidden love for Mitsuki and leaves the area. Mitsuki wants to chase after Lemon but Chihaya refuses to let him go. Mitsuki understands and stays with Chihaya.
Kazuhiko chases after Lemon and spots her by the bus stop. He tries to engage in small talk with her about their newsletter write-ups. Lemon says Kazuhiko should cheer her up with funny stories like typical boys. She rambles about a children’s story. The story alludes to her playing the role of the female character who loves to run.
She semi-alludes to the prince being Mitsuki. Lemon departs via the bus. Some time passes. Anna texts Kazuhiko about Lemon. Kazuhiko tells Anna it’s been ages since he last heard from Lemon. Then, Kazuhiko receives a text from Chihaya. He leaves his home and meets Chihaya somewhere.
Chihaya and Kazuhiko discuss her, Lemon, and Mitsuki’s situation. The former wants to break up with Mitsuki because she argues Mitsuki loves Lemon. Kazuhiko comforts Chihaya and tells her to let him handle the situation. The two part ways and Koto calls Kazuhiko some time later. Koto knows about Lemon’s situation.
She tells Kazuhiko to gather his things because Koto wants him and the others to visit Lemon in Shinshiro. Koto wants her and the others to get Lemon back on her feet. Anna, Koto, Komari, and Kazuhiko arrive at Shinshiro. Kazuhiko and Anna visit a food stand and Anna rambles about sugar.
Then, Anna reveals she’s achieved the perfect physique. After Koto, Komari, and Kazuhiko engage in a strange discussion, we see our group inside a car. Koto’s driving them to Lemon’s grandmother’s place since Lemon’s there. Kazuhiko and the others arrive at an undisclosed location despite Koto telling them to believe in her GPS.
While Koto calls someone for directions, Kazuhiko, Komari, and Anna fool around at a nearby locale. Kazuhiko shoots a video of Anna by a river. Lemon arrives and accidentally falls into the river with Anna. While Anna and Lemon wash up in Lemon’s grandmother’s bathroom, Kazuhiko, Komari, and Koto discuss Lemon in the living room.
Koto suggests they keep Lemon company since Lemon isn’t in a terrible mood. Later, Lemon and Anna regroup with Kazuhiko and the others. Lemon knows why everyone is here and thanks them for keeping her company. Then, Lemon’s grandmother arrives, greets everyone, and orders sushi.
After they eat, Lemon’s grandmother tells Kazuhiko and his friends that they can stay the night if they want to. Kazuhiko learns Koto told the others that this was her plan all along. The episode ends with Kazuhiko responding to everything awkwardly.
The Episode Review
Lemon got the short end of the stick in this episode. While Lemon handled everything surrounding Mitsuki and Chihaya maturely at first, it’s nice to know that she hasn’t fully moved on from him. Lemon’s reaction to Chihaya clenching Mitsuki’s arm at the planetarium is a great example.
It shows how the brightest of individuals can have their facades shattered. Although the episode’s closing segments feature Lemon in a cheery mood, folks who’ve experienced heartbreak know Lemon’s still bitter about everything. Therefore, it’d be stellar if the next episode featured Lemon and Mitsuki discussing this accidental confession situation privately.
The show should feature them in a situation similar to Anna, Kazuhiko, and Sosuke’s scenario from a past episode. It’d give Lemon, Chihaya, and Mistuki proper closure and allow the story writers to tackle a new topic. That drama aside, this episode offers fans enjoyable comedic segments to observe.
Anna remains a lovable goofball with her quirky reactions and strange ramblings. It’s hard not to smile whenever she and Kazuhiko are on screen together. At the same time, some segments felt like added fluff to make the runtime. Some fans would’ve preferred if the episode stuck with the Lemon subplot more.
But all in all, this chapter should keep viewers invested and hungry for the tale’s future events.
