Love Scout – K-drama Episode 5 Recap & Review

Episode 5

Episode 5 of Love Scout begins with Ji-yun drunkenly leaning toward Eun-ho but falling asleep before anything happens. The next morning, she wakes up with hazy memories of the previous night, dismissing it as nothing more than a dream. She later confirms with Mi-ae that Eun-ho had been sent home after the party, and Eun-ho himself supports the same story.

Later, Ji-yun stops by the bookstore and runs into Byeol again. Their frequent meetings have caused Byeol to grow fond of spending time with Ji-yun, especially after discovering they share a mutual love for mint chocolate.

Meanwhile, Ji-yun begins to find herself increasingly swayed by Eun-ho’s presence. Elsewhere, Jeong-hun meets Su-hyeon at the publishing house and learns that her book hasn’t been selling well, leading to its publication being halted. Despite the setback, Jeong-hun asks for her autograph and cheers her on, showing his unwavering support.

On the professional front, Ji-yun’s company lands a new client who needs a luxury brand appraiser—a critical role that is difficult to fill with the right talent. However, their leading candidate is poached by Career Way, orchestrated by someone Ji-yun had previously fired for lying on his resume. Now working for Career Way, this individual has been tasked with stealing talent from Ji-yun’s company. Determined, Ji-yun promises her client to find an even better candidate. Eun-ho steps in to assist the team member in charge by searching for luxury brand repairers who could transition into appraisers.

Later that evening, Ji-yun finds a mobile sticker in her office—one that Byeol had placed on Eun-ho’s phone. This discovery jolts her memory, and she finally realizes that the night of the team party wasn’t just a dream. She confronts Eun-ho, and they mutually agree to forget what had happened.

The next day, Eun-ho and the team member in charge scout a talented luxury brand repairer at a bustling marketplace. They test her skills, and she impresses them by correctly identifying the leather types of several hidden-brand samples.

Meanwhile, Byeol, who is on a school trip, encourages her dad to find a girlfriend. With his Friday night free, Mi-ae plans a get-together for the board of directors at Eun-ho’s house, but Ji-yun refuses to attend. However, she later changes her mind and shows up, only to discover that the party has been canceled. Embarrassed, she turns to leave, but Eun-ho invites her in for dinner. To her surprise, Eun-ho impresses her with his exceptional cooking skills.

While Eun-ho takes a call from Byeol, Ji-yun falls asleep on his sofa. The next morning, they both wake with a start—Eun-ho rushing because Byeol is about to arrive and Ji-yun because she’s late for work. The episode ends with the two awkwardly encountering Byeol, Su-hyeon, and her son in the elevator.

The Episode Review

Love Scout continues to grow stronger with every episode, and much of its success as a rom-com K-drama can be attributed to the wholesome chemistry between Lee Jun-hyuk and Han Ji-min.

They embody their respective characters with such integrity that Yoo Eun-ho and Kang Ji-yun feel like real people we can’t help but root for. Adding to the charm is the drama’s aesthetic cinematography, with its cheerful and vibrant color palette that amplifies the feel-good vibes.

This episode also drops hints about Eun-ho’s past when he mentions learning to cook as a survival skill since childhood. There seems to be a shared, hidden past between Ji-yun and Eun-ho.

A plausible theory is that Eun-ho’s parents might have died in the same fire that claimed Ji-yun’s father—a classic, predictable rom-com trope connecting the protagonists and adding an element of fate to their romance. However, we’re hopeful there are deeper and more intriguing secrets waiting to be unraveled.
