Love Is Like A Cat — K-drama Episode 2 Recap & Review

Episode 2

Episode 2 of Love Is Like A Cat starts with Uno working out when he receives a call from a Korean man. This is Uno’s birth father and he threatens to expose Uno’s secret. The man asks Uno to meet him in person and Uno reluctantly agrees. He asks his manager to tell him the address of the veterinary clinic so he can make the payment for the treatment of the street dog on his way back.

Meanwhile, Jun-hyuk visits Dae-byeol’s dog cafe – Floof and asks Gi-min to make him his regular coffee. There, he finds the unpaid electricity bills Dae-byeol was worried about and takes them with him. At his clinic, he asks the nurses working there to pay off the electricity bills for Dae-byeol’s cafe. The nurses wonder why Jun-hyuk is helping Dae-byeol financially again but do as he says.

On the other hand, Uno is taken into his birth father’s cabin where he meets his birth father for the first time. The man apologises to Uno for leaving his mother to raise him after they had a fling many years ago. Uno is upset with him and argues with him for breaking up with his mother knowing the fact that she had feelings for him.

The man tells Uno that he was dealing with a lot at the time and could not abandon his terminally ill wife. He asks Uno to give him some time to prove that he could be a good father to Uno. Uno yells at the man and tells him that he never thought of him as his father. He cuts all ties with the man and leaves.

At JS Entertainment, the CEO and a TV show producer discuss her new variety program called “Dooby Dooby Job” that Uno could star in. The PD reveals that having Uno work on a fun variety program would benefit him but the CEO states that Uno is too introverted for something like this. The PD states that the show was scandalous and would bring out a new side of Uno to help him open up.

Uno, on the other hand, visits the vet clinic on his way back. He tries to get inside but is startled by a little girl carrying a dog. He yells at the little girl in Thai, asking her to take the dog away from him but the girl starts crying. Dae-byeol, who is also at the clinic to check up on the cat notices this. He calms the little girl and the dog down and tries to talk to Uno in Korean.

Uno responds to Dae-byeol in Thai but the latter does not understand it. Uno is embarrassed and gets in his car to go back home. Just then, Jun-hyuk and his nurses show up outside the clinic. One of the nurses reveals that Uno is an idol-turned-actor. Jun-hyuk wonders why a celebrity was at his clinic. The nurses assume that he was trying to adopt a pet as having pets is a new celebrity fad.

Dae-byeol wonders if Uno has a history of animal abuse, given his foul reaction to seeing the little girl with the dog and gets suspicious of the actor. Meanwhile, Uno meets the CEO of his company and learns that he was rejected from the popular film as the director did not see him fit for the role.

The CEO tells Uno about the variety program and tells him that by being a part of it, Uno could get rid of his past scandals as the episode comes to an end.

The Episode Review

The meet-cute between Uno and Dae-byeol just happened and it did not even register. I am going to blame it all on the fact that Mew is saying his lines in Thai while the rest of the cast on the show speaks Korean. If he is a part of a Korean drama, the least he can do is speak in Korean. With that thought pushed aside, I wonder why the makers of this show are not revealing character names.

We are in Episode 2 and we don’t know the names of anyone around Uno’s character. His birth father being Korean is a good enough reason for Uno to be able to speak Korean or at least make some effort to speak the language. What has me worried is that the language barrier will make it harder for the main leads to connect and for viewers to see the chemistry between them.
