After having a movie as well as a Hulu Original show based on the same case, the Candace Mongomery Axe Murder is coming back into the light in the form of an HBO Original mini-series.
The first adaptation of the case was the 1990 television movie titled A Killing in a Small Town. A long time after that, the case was adapted into a 5-episode Hulu original Candy starring Jessica Biel.
Now, in 2023, this true crime case is being brought back to attention with another limited series titled, Love & Death. The upcoming show is directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and written by David E. Kelley and stars actress Elizabeth Olsen in the lead role playing the accused axe murderer – Candy Lynn Montgomery.

What is the HBO Max original, Love & Death about?
The upcoming limited series, Love & Death follows the story of Candy Montgomery. Candy and her friend, Betty Gore had a lot in common: They sang together in the Methodist church choir, their daughters were best friends, and their husbands had good jobs working for technology companies in the north Dallas suburbs known as Silicon Prairie.
But beneath the placid surface of their seemingly perfect lives, both women simmered with unspoken frustrations and unanswered desires.

Love & Death is an HBO Max Original and will release exclusively on the platform. Viewers can watch the show with a valid subscription.

How Many Episodes Will Love and Death Have?
HBO Max’s upcoming original mini-series will have 7 episodes in total. The crime thriller TV show will drop new episodes every Thursday of May before eventually coming to an end on May 25th. With the release of this episode, the mini-series will have come to an end.
The crime thriller is produced by the makers of Big Little Lies and The Undoing. Aside from starring Elizabeth Olsen in the lead role of Candy Montgomery, the limited series also stars Jesse Plemons as Allan Gore, Patrick Fugit as Pat Montgomery and Lily Rabe as Betty Gore.
What happened in Episode 6?
After she is convicted of the murder of Betty Gore, Candy Montgomery is set to face a jury for her trial. Her advocate – Don argues in court that Candy had killed Betty and that she had done so in self-defence. Meanwhile, Candy tries to keep up her public image by taking medicines that help her stay calm and composed during the hearings.
