Lootere – Season 1 Episode 4 Recap & Review

Episode 4

Episode 4 of Lootere kicks off with Koombe asking Aisha where the other crew member is hiding, or else she’ll deprive her of both food and water. Koombe also attempts to sexually assault her, but Barkhand intervenes and asks Koombe to check on the hostages.

One of the pirates notifies Barkhand that Ruhan has gone missing, and thus, Barkhand dispatches a handful of his men with Koomba in tow to find him. To motivate, Koombe says to his men that whoever finds Ruhan first will get to spend the night with the hottest woman in Harardhere. This works, and eventually, Ruhan is captured.

It has been five days since Hijack and Vikram’s troubles just seem to keep piling up. However, for the first time in five days, Vikram has a decent plan, thanks to Bilal. If you don’t know,  the pirates, or should we say Vikrant, posing as one, will demand millions of dollars as ransom from the owners of UK Kyival.

Later, Vikrant plans to use the money to pay back what he owes al-muharib. However, Vikrant lashes out when he learns that one of the pirates has killed Mudit. Vikram tries to back out, saying he will gather funds from somewhere else, but Bilal states that Vikram no longer has such influence to gather the aforementioned sum.

Meanwhile, Avika is doing her best to find Ismael, and thanks to General Walid, the police decide to take the disappearance seriously. It is revealed that Ismael Isn’t the only boy who’s missing; more than 8 boys have disappeared mysteriously. There’s a rumour that someone from up north, possibly Harardhere, kidnaps them and trains them to become either pirates or criminals.

Avika decides to go to Harardhere, but Gupta stops them stating he has been ordered by Vikrant to keep an eye on her. Back on the ship, AK Singh tries to motivate his crew by telling the story of his brother, whose ship too was hijacked, resulting in his death by suicide, just a day before Navy Seals came to rescue him.

AK Singh tells his crew not to lose hope, but Zafar shares a different opinion and believes not everyone is that fortunate. Vikrant calls Ajay Kotwal and demands that he pay the ransom, or else the pirates will kill all the crew members. Among them is also a pregnant woman.

Things turn problematic for Vikrant when Tawfiq betrays him and decides to take part in the post-presidency election. When Gupta confronts Tawfiq, he advises Gupta to leave Vikrant and work for him. I’ll make you the head of port operations and will give you all the money and power you need, Tawfiq says, but Gupta says no!!

However, this is just one of the problems Vik is going to face, as it is revealed that Avika has snuck outside the house to go to Harardhere. If you don’t know, Harardhere is one of the most dangerous places in Somalia. When Vikrant learns about it, he lashes out at Gupta, who then beats the security guards to the pulp.

AK Singh receives a call from Desai, the negotiator, who assures them they’re doing everything in their power to get them back home safely. Barkhand takes the phone from Singh’s hand and demands fifty million dollars, or he’ll ship the crew members to him in the body bag. Desai tries to convince Barkhand to meet him in the middle, but he refuses.

However, Singh believes that the shipping company will never pay fifty million to rescue them.  Elsewhere, Gupta has enough of Vikrant’s disrespect, and he agrees to join forces with Tawfiq. The prospect of becoming the head of port operations is way too good of an opportunity to pass over.

The Episode Review

Let’s break it down: Vikrant’s luck is so bad it’s almost impressive. First, his shipment of guns was hijacked by pirates. Then, his precious cargo took a nosedive into the ocean, never to be recovered.

But the real kicker came when his trusted confidante, Gupta, switched sides and teamed up with the enemy. Gupta’s been with Vikrant for 15 years, so he knows all the ins and outs of Vikrant’s shady dealings. Tawfiq, armed with this inside info, is poised to take Vikrant down.

Vikrant’s in a deep hole now, one that’s proving mighty tough to climb out of.
