Mr. Congeniality
In Loot Season 2 Episode 4, Molly’s apparent horniness is making Sofia uncomfortable enough at work that she advises her to forget about swearing off men to have some casual sex.
But Molly instead resolves to recenter herself at a retreat that’s supposed to help her conquer her desire. However, that desire gets a little out of hand when handsome actor Benjamin Bratt arrives.
Meanwhile, Howard and Arthur audition people for the role of the Heel in their new wrestling league. But each person they try out just feels too mean, when what they’re wanting is a more likable villain.
While they deal with that dilemma, Ainsley struggles with her own problems. She’s trying to make a seating chart for her wedding, but she has too many family members who can’t sit next to each other due to some drama. Sofia and Nicholas try to help her figure it out with no luck–that is, until Nicholas calls Ainsley’s aunt to yell at her to pull it together.
Overhearing the phone call, Howard and Arthur realize that Nicholas is just who they’re looking for to be their Heel. He can be incredibly mean, but he’s still intensely likable. Luckily for them, Nicholas agrees to play the role.
Back at the retreat, Molly and Benjamin get kicked out for sneaking around together. They end up having a one-night stand, and Molly returns to work happier and less horny, much to Sofia’s relief.
The Episode Review
This episode has its charming moments, and I especially love the idea of Nicholas joining Howard’s wrestling league; while I never expected it, the revelation that he’d be a great Heel makes perfect sense.
I’m very excited for Howard and Arthur’s future endeavors with the league, but I’m much colder on Molly’s current journey.
Will we ever refocus on the “Space for Everyone” project? What is Molly doing to give away her billions if she’s comfortable spending money on what looks to be an expensive retreat? And why is Sofia, supposedly the moral paragon of the show, less concerned about that than Molly’s getting laid? For a show that claims to critique the one-percenters, I’m not seeing a lot of focus on that right now.
