Episode 5

Living with Him Episode 5 brings us back to Kazuto asking Natsukawa on a date. They go camping at a place Natsukawa ferreted out, Kazuto noting how secluded it is. As Natsukawa cutely tries to sort out the equipment, Kazuto helps him at every turn. Until they get to the flint.

Conveniently, a group of girls show up so Kazuto asks them for a light as they fawn and giggle around him. They recognize him from baseball and invite him to join them. But he tells Natsukawa he’d rather it’s just the two of them, not letting Natsukawa go near them. Carrying on with the barbeque, they laugh, take photos and play a board game. Natsukawa thinks he’d like to have those moments last forever.

Back at home, Natsukawa invites Kazuto to do the fireworks they couldn’t do while camping. Kazuto has his work drinks but says he’ll try to come back early, even when Natsukawa tells him to just enjoy the party. As they continue drinking tea, Kazuto asks about Haruna using his first name. He wants to call him that too but it’s awkward so they decide to stick to the old way. As Kazuto heads out, after hearing his name, Natsukawa suddenly knows how he feels.

At the work drinks, one of the women wants to sit with Kazuto, so Eri clears out. She asks all about him and Kazuto talks about housing with Natsukawa. While at home, Natsukawa mistakenly cooks for two.

At the party, now trapped between his colleague and Eri on either side, Kazuto admits he likes someone. As he tries to exit, the flirty colleague doesn’t quit, saying she’ll teach him how to win over the person he likes. With jealousy. While they all toast to staying out all night with others perhaps wondering where they are, Kazuto intends to head home, not wanting his person to worry. Noting his discomfort, Eri helps him make his escape.

As a thunderstorm starts, Natsukawa assumes Kazuto will be out all night. He receives a group photo from Eri but she calls straight after wondering if Kazuto has made it home yet. As the thunder breaks, Natsukawa grabs his coat but Kazuto is just outside. He quickly grabs a towel and tells Kazuto he should rely on him more. Running to warm a bath he tells Kazuto to strip off. But Kazuto follows him into the bathroom, hugging him for warmth and falling to his knees.

The Episode Review

So, Natsukawa realizes his feelings. And whether Kazuto realizes it or not, jealousy has played some sort of role in this. As Kazuto was ensuring Natsukawa wasn’t out in the woods meeting girls, Natsukawa must surely have been thinking Kazuto wanted to talk to them. The group photo Eri sent couldn’t possibly have helped as he enlarged the image of the woman sitting closely next to Kazuto. 

Our man Kazuto, just as the woman said, is going to be a good boyfriend, neither wanting to make his love jealous nor have him waiting for him. So even though they’re too awkward together to have Kazuto use Natsukawa’s first name, maybe the next episode will bring us a different relationship. Before one or both of them lose their cool.
