Aunt May

Link Click Episode 7 sticks us in the alley where Xiaoshi is confronted by Qiao Ling and her friend. Lu Guang’s warning about not being seen echoes in his head. He runs off leaving Qiao Ling confused – isn’t he abroad? With that, they’ve lost sight of Doudou, whose kidnapper was clever enough to skirt the CCTV. At the same time, Doudou’s parents are panicking. Mission failed.

In the present, Qiao Ling reports the failure to Liang and admits to having seen Doudou that day. Liang graciously thanks her for the information, saying it gives him hope. The team offers to continue helping, requesting new photos. They find a picture taken by Doudou on the day, the perfect opportunity to see what’s happening. Lu Guang uses his vision and believes there could be a clue.

In Doudou’s body, Xiaoshi meets the kidnapper. She bounces a ball toward him that emits a scent, drugging him enough to be quietly led away. Xiaoshi is disoriented so all Lu Guang can do is watch the scene unfold. Xiaoshi dreams of a day with Doudou’s parents, but wakes up in a strange place. Lu Guang isn’t able to see anything while Xiaoshi was passed out, so they have no idea where she’s taken him.

Additionally, he’d been out for a while, burning part of his 12 hours. As the kidnapper sleeps, Xiaoshi looks for clues. They figure out he’s no longer in the city but it’s not enough to map him. He sneaks into the kidnapper’s bag finding her ID tangled in a talisman but waking her with the noise.

In defence, Xiaoshi punches her, but that just makes her angry. Having noticed the talisman, he attempts to scare her into submission, claiming to be the embodiment of her ancestor. It’s the ruse that makes the superstitious woman back off.

At the police station, the Liangs nervously await Doudou’s arrival. Now two years older, he’s traumatised. But the Time Photo Studio crew arrives masked as his favorites, the Star of Justice Team, to enchant him into a reunion. As the prisoner arrives, Xiaoshi gives her one final message from her ancestors.

Captain Xiao approaches Xiaoshi to confirm he’s the one who can enter photos, as he’s seen him on-scene in a number of CCTV footage reels. He requests help on another case but Lu Guang takes over to assess the photo. It’s a crime scene image of Emma.

The Episode Review

Oops, Xiaoshi has now been noticed at a number of crime scenes. It’s probably a good thing he volunteered to help Mr Liang, as things might be looking pretty suspicious right about now. And of course, Qiao Ling and her friend have now spotted him in the past too. It seems a few of the rules have been broken as we wind toward a potentially dramatic season finish.

There’re a few interesting revelations with only 4 more instalments to go. How does Xiaoshi manage to punch the kidnapper? Is he using the kid’s strength or his own? Same with his basketball skills – is it a mental thing or a physical one?

This is not the first time Xiaoshi is more than an observer. In fact, he can’t seem to stop himself from getting deeply involved to the point of endangering himself. We still don’t know what happens at the 12-hour mark. Is Xiaoshi forcibly ejected from a scenario? Or stuck there? Or neither, as in, gone?

Furthermore – oh, Xiaoshi – this news about Emma can’t possibly be good for your mental state. Will Lu Guang be able to either keep it from him or manage it delicately? Because Xiaoshi will instantly realize you’re still keeping more than a few facts to yourself.
