Life & Beth – Season 2 Episode 10 Recap, Review & Ending Explained

Road to Nowhere

The season finale, Life & Beth Season 2 Episode 10 begins with Beth and John at a secluded house out in the country, preparing for the arrival of their baby. The stress of everything going on where they’re from needed to be left behind in order to get this baby into the world in a safe manner. At the house, Beth meets her “Birth Doula.”  She is there to give Beth a spiritual awakening as she prepares for motherhood.

That, of course, becomes a side plot that never really pans out. Beth’s water breaks, or so they think; it turns out she just peed her pants. She and John soon realize that they need to just head back to be closer to friends and family for the birth, so they pack up and leave.

When they get back, Beth sees that her and John’s house has been completed and the renovation is over. This was all one of the main reasons why they left to begin with. Despite all the issues, John kept his promise to get the house done before the baby, and he called in some friends to help add the finishing touches while they were gone.

Beth then reconnects with her sister, Ann. We have not seen Ann since they had a falling out in Episode 6, and they have not talked to one another during the entirety of Beth’s pregnancy. On the way to the hospital for Beth’s C-section, they stop at Ann’s so she can make peace with her sister. Ann ends up coming along with her and John to the hospital for support.

As Beth is carted away to prep for her c-section, John and Ann have a heart-to-heart. Then they are summoned into the room. Ann tells John that he will be right behind him, but she ends up leaving the hospital; all of that is unexplained for now. But John enters the room to be the calming force, and their baby boy is born safely into this world at the end of Life & Beth Season 2 Episode 10.

The Episode Review

There are great moments throughout Life & Beth Season 2 Episode 10’s final five to ten minutes where you worry that all of this could go south. Sitting around waiting for a child to be brought into this world is actually a scary thing, and there is a lot to take into consideration during that time.

The show really gives you a sense of that while staying humorous. The season’s ups and downs seemed very realistic and never superficial. You don’t know where the characters are going from here; maybe that’s why the finale was called “Road to Nowhere” (and because the song by The Talking Heads plays at the end of the episode).
