The Secret Score (La Partitura Secreta) – Episode 2 Recap & Review

Danger, Touch and Escape

Episode 2 of The Secret Score Season 1 starts with the class in chaos after Tenoch’s teleportation and Catalina’s fainting. Nati realises that she can erase memories when she accidentally erases Andy’s memory in class. Later that night, Maya and Nati sneak out of the dorm and head out to the museum to investigate what is happening to them. Tenoch is inside his room trying to figure out how he teleports by trying to get to exotic locations like Tokyo or Hawaii, but he ends up at the museum. Andy transforms into Principal Catalina and scares the group before Max shows up since his phone keeps texting Maya’s thoughts about wanting to save Leo. They all get ready to head to the inner office, but Gael shows up and asks them to return to their dorms.

The following day, during breakfast, Maya enquires more about Leo from Rafa, but he insists that he has not seen him since the beginning of the semester. Meanwhile, when Rafa shows up, Connie and Paulina are trying to work on their project and start asking Connie questions about the music score they heard and her powers. Rafa wants to know if the voice she heard was Maya’s, while Paulina wonders why she has no powers when she, too, listened to the music.

While May and Max are conversing about the project, Connie passes by, and May notices that she has her pen. She asks for it back and learns that Connie is also at the museum. Max texts his thoughts to Connie’s phone when he wonders if she is following him, and Connie admits that she is. A teacher passes by and tells them that the class is about to start, so Connie excuses herself. Maya suggests that Max turn off his phone to avoid accidentally telling everybody about the music score.

Dod asks Max and Maya to present their work in class, and when he hands her the music notes, Maya flashes back to when her music teacher or father told her to follow music scores instead of playing with her heart. However, it seems like Maya prefers playing music from the heart rather than following the music score, which angers Max, and Dod asks to see them in the office after class. They meet with Catalina, and when they are arguing, Max receives a text about her thoughts, saying that he will crash if he does not learn to get along with people.

While Connie is holding Rafa’s book, he overhears him on the phone talking about the power of the music score. Rafa figures out that Connie can hear someone’s voice no matter how far they are if she holds something that belongs to that person. To test the theory, he sends Paulina to sneak into Maya’s room and bring him something belonging to Maya. During lunch, Maya tells the group about Leo’s disappearance and the backpack he saw someone put in one of the drawers in the teacher’s office. She wants their help finding Leo, starting with getting the backpack out of the room. Andy agrees to help, and after lunch, he transforms into Catalina and gets into the staffroom to look for the backpack. However, the plan does not work because Dod comes in, and since he is in a secret relationship with Catalina, he starts to move on Andy, and he has to escape from the office.

The friends realise that their powers no longer work and try playing the music score again to see if they return. Max does not want his powers back, so he does not accompany them to the museum. Rafa, hiding nearby, follows them into the museum, but he loses them when they enter the inner officer’s room before he gets to the museum. He receives a message from Paulina saying that she got Maya’s sock, so he leaves before Tenoch plays the score. Everyone who has had the music score before gets their powers back regardless of location, which Max is not enthusiastic about. Maya still wants their help finding Leo, and they have 24 hours before the powers fade.

While the friends want to sneak around the school when everyone else is at the concert to look for clues about Leo’s whereabouts, Gael forces them to attend. Rafa forces his sister Connie to use the sock and listen to Maya during the concert, but the sock is Nati’s. She hears Nati talking about opening a lock, and when Rafa looks in their direction, Nati, Tenoch, and Andy are gone. Tenoch starts to get the hang of his powers as he teleports them outside the staffroom and heads to Tokyo. Andy transforms into Rosa, gets into the staffroom and finds the bag. However, the honest Rosa enters the room before he gets out, so he hides under the table.

Outside, Rafa tries to figure out what Nati and the group are up to, but she lies about leaving the concert because she is not feeling well. Rafa offers to walk her to the infirmary, but she refuses and follows Rosa, thinking it is Andy when she leaves the office. Dod and Catalina arrive outside the office, and Dod asks her why she is suddenly distant, considering that the person he had run into earlier was Catalina. Just then, Andy walked out of the office with the hidden backpack and quickly evaded Catalina and Dod. He excuses himself, heading one way while the honest Rosa approaches coming from the other way, which puzzles Dod and Catalina.

Rosa reports that the metronome has been stolen from the museum, so Catalina orders her to close the museum so nobody is allowed inside. The friends meet up in Maya and Nati’s room later that night. Inside Leo’s room, they find a key and a note with a warning asking Leo to hand over the golden spiral pendant.

The Episode Review

In this episode, we get a deeper understanding of the powers the kids have and how they work. Maya can see the past as long as he touches a surface, Max can read or tell people his thoughts through text messages, and Tenoch has teleportation and can go anywhere as long as he thinks about it. In this episode, we learn that he can teleport other people too. Connie can hear someone talk no matter how far they are as long as she holds something that belongs to that person, while Andy can transform into anybody he wants.

Nati can erase memories, but we have yet to learn about Paulina’s powers. Rafa knows something about the music score and the powers as if he is spying for someone. Is there some evil person who is responsible for Leo’s disappearance? The powers last for 24 hours, and they must listen to the music score again to get them back. With the museum closed because of the suspected theft, how will they regain their powers after 24 hours?
