Episode 6
Why does Fred return?
In Land of Women Episode 6, Fred’s surprise arrival interrupts a moment between Gala and Amat. He admits to Gala he’s in more debt than she imagined and doesn’t have the money to pay Tony back.
The smallest comfort he can offer is that he didn’t cheat on her. Rather, he met a woman who claims she can get money for Gala’s jewelry.
Fred can’t stay long with Kevin sniffing around, but he tells Gala to meet him later so they can enact his plan to get out the country and sell Gala’s necklace.
Gala is resigned to going with him, but she first helps the winery during Edna’s visit, convincing her to buy 100,000 bottles.
What happens to Kevin and Hank?
The next morning, Kevin and Hank are arrested for stealing a vehicle, but Andreu tells Gala they’ll likely only be held up for a few hours.
Later, Kevin breaks himself, and assumedly Hank, out of jail.
Do the Xatart women stay in La Muga?
After a chat with Mariona, Julia resigns to stay in La Muga instead of running away like always. She tells her daughter and granddaughter it’s where she belongs, so Gala and Kate make plans to leave without her.
Amat takes Gala and Kate to meet Fred, but Gala then realizes she doesn’t want to go. She comes up with a plan to steal back her valuable necklace so they can stay in La Muga. Kate distracts Fred while Amat and Gala sneak to the room. She tells her dad she’s willing to have him in her life, but only once he gets himself together.
Do Gala and Amat end up together?
Gala and Amat successfully steal the necklace. Elated, Gala kisses Amat. They go back to La Muga to celebrate, but Montse stops Amat for a discussion. She tells him that a third person has entered their relationship, and it doesn’t seem she means Gala, meaning she could be pregnant.
Meanwhile, Andreu and the priest stop Julia to tell her they have the results of the paternity test. But Julia rushes away before they can tell her anything else.
How does Land of Women Season 1 End?
Amat is distant with Gala as he drives her home, but before they can get into it, they hit something in the road.
They ran over Kevin–and he appears to be dead.
The Episode Review
That’s a wrap on the frustratingly short first season of Land of Women. These characters are too charming, but six episodes is just not enough to flesh them out thoroughly.
The finale suffers from being rushed as well; for one, Gala’s half-baked plan comes together a little too perfectly. There was no real threat at hand here, aside from some twists thrown in at the end just to spice things up.
I do find it interesting that Julia doesn’t want to hear the results of the paternity test. It makes me wonder if there’s a secret third option she knows about but is too scared to confront. Someone she might actually care about, even? Here’s hoping the series is renewed for another season so we can explore her past further.
