What Happened In Episode 1?

Laid-Back Camp Season 3 starts with a flashback involving Rin and her grandfather. The two head to a dam and take in the gorgeous sites. Then, they head for a shop so Rin’s grandfather can purchase some camping materials. While that’s happening, we follow Rin in the present timeline. She arrives at a building near the Kodaki Fuji Mountain.

An elderly fellow gives her some info on the mountain and shows her where she can set up camp. While present Rin sets up camp, we return to following Rin’s past self and her grandfather’s activities. Her grandfather shows her a new campfire-starting technique, which wows her. In the present, Rin attempts this trick but fails several times.

Fortunately, she eventually succeeds, and a little girl nearby praises her. In the past again, Rin and her grandfather visit a new location to eat and drink milk. Her grandfather shares some wise words about the camping experience with Rin during this scenario. In the present again, the little girl returns and asks Rin questions about her campsite.

Rin explains things to the little girl and the girl’s mother arrives to collect her. Then, Rin gets up and heads toward the lake. During this event, she ponders a few words Nadeshiko shared with her in a past season. Then, we cut away to Nadeshiko, Chiaki, and Aoi in their clubroom. Chiaki shares a new activity that she’d like her and the girls to participate in regarding alcohol stoves.

Aoi and Nadeshiko are onboard with the stoves and the three head to a classroom to create them. While Nadeshiko struggles, Aoi and Chiaki discuss things regarding Nadeshiko’s failures and Chiaki’s grown-out hair. Then, Ena arrives. The girls explain what they’re doing and Ena says they should all go yard camping at her place once they finish their project.

This excites Nadeshiko and the others. Once they finish their stoves, they visit Minami in the school’s science room. Minami helps the girls with their experiment and shares some helpful advice. Later, Nadeshiko and her friends are shown walking on a roadway. They discuss their upcoming yard camp excursion briefly.

A nearby tree catches Nadeshiko’s attention. She snaps a photo of the tree before returning to her friends. We cut away to Ayano texting Rin on her phone. Rin’s unsure who is texting her so Ayano tells her she’s texting her. The episode closes with Ayano chuckling.
