Episode 7
Episode 7 of Kubra begins with a flashback where Merve goes to the lodge to comfort Semavi. Before she puts her foot throughbthe door, Merve notices that Semavi is already talking to her, probably Allah, who has come in the guise of Merve to comfort Gokhan.
Merve takes this as a sign and schemes with Ali, saying they must do something to rejuvenate people’s trust and faith in Gokhan. However, both Merve and Ali knew that Gokhan would never agree to such a scheme; therefore, they took it upon themselves to carry out the plan. They met a young man and gave him a false bullet with chicken blood, asking him to shoot Semavi.
The scenes shift to the present, and we learn that Gulcan has yet to tell Gokhan the truth. We also learn troubling news that Turgut, the politician who has been bugging Gokhan, pulled some strings and froze the bank accounts of the Semavi Foundation. Moreover, they also order the police to do a proper investigation to see if they’re connected with a terrorist organization.
The domino starts to fall, and both Gokhan’s mother and father-in-law are taken to the station for questioning. The cops also arrive at Semavi’s office with a search warrant, asking them to cooperate or face justice. Almost all files, ledges, hard drives, and possessions are confiscated by the police. However, his followers and elders assure him that no matter what, they stand with him and support his cause.
Things take a turn when Gokhan’s shirt, which he wore the day he was shot, is stolen. Ali and Merve fear that if the shirts get into the wrong hands, he/she will use them against them to prove Semavi is a charlatan and a fraud. So, who did take the shirt?
Serhat is the one who has stolen the shirt on Inspector Kara’s orders. Kara wants to see if Semavi is really a messenger or a fraud. Gulcan finds out about this and threatens to kill herself if anything tragic happens to her brother. She tries to warn Sevami, but he disconnects her call.
As the episode continues, Semavi meets Turgut, asking him to attack him, not his family. Turgut says he’ll make all his problems disappear if he bows down in front of him and his party leaders. Kara meets Semavi and tells him that the blood on his shirt belongs to a chicken, not him. Kara also threatens to bring him down now that he knows that Semavi is nothing but a fraud.
This breaks Semavi’s spirit, and he feels betrayed. He confronts Merve after learning that it was her plan. Merve tries to convince Semavi that she did it to help him gain confidence. Accidentally, Merve reveals that she’s the one who has been texting him all this time but Gokhan refuses to listen and walks away.
On the way, he encounters Nalan, who makes him understand that all the people to whom he has given hope are his miracles, not an application. Nalan says to Gokhan that if he chooses to go on, it’ll be his miracle. As the episode nears its end, a young man catches Gokhan’s attention, saying he needs to talk to him about Kubra.
The Episode Review
Episode 7 was huge on secrets and revelations. We learn that the messages Gokhan has been receiving weren’t from Allah himself but from his girlfriend, Merve; at least, this is what it looked like in the last episode. And if that’s the case, how can we explain the power outage and the building explosion? Does she have a part to play in this?
Merve’s betrayal makes Gokhan lose his confidence again, but Nalan’s words give him strength to fight back. So, what is Kubra really? Maybe the young man who stopped Gokhan can shed some light on it.
