Episode 3
Episode 3 of Kubra begins with a group of people breaking into a house to rescue a woman who has been abducted. With Gokhan’s help, the group successfully saves the woman.
The mother of the rescued woman praises Gokhan, thanking him for saving her daughter; however, Gokhan confesses that he’s just a messenger and the real savior is Allah.
Meanwhile, the city administration is investigating the massive blackout and believes it is some kind of attack carried out by a terrorist organization. They fear that if they can disrupt the power of a city as large as Istanbul, what more they can do? It can lead to loss of lives, they say.
Gokhan’s family is still in disbelief over his huge revelation that he is God’s messenger and Allah is speaking to him. Gokhan supports his brother’s words, stating that Allah stopped Gulkan from killing herself. However, his friend Sahil lies down at his feet, bowing, saying he has always known that Gulkan was different. The mosque’s imam doesn’t believe him, saying that his hallucinations will get the best of him.
The Imam further states that pretending to be God’s messenger is a grave sin, and he’ll go to hell. Plus, no one will believe him and will see him as an outcast. Gokhan’s mother and girlfriend, Marve, too, don’t believe his story, and according to them, Gokhan has lost his mind. Gokhan receives another text that reads those who trust him will persevere. The message also reads that everyone will see him in a new light after tomorrow’s evening prayer.
Gokhan senses a tragedy is going to hit and decides to warn people. Gokhan films a video confessing that he’s the messenger of Allah and requests people not to leave their homes tomorrow. The same evening, he gathers everyone in the coffee house and confesses that he has never lied, and he is not lying now when he says that Allah is speaking to him.
People don’t believe him and make a mockery out of his claim. However, when Gokhan reveals the grave sin of one of the men sitting in the crowd, the scale leans in his favor. Gokhan also asks people to believe in him or face Allah’s wraith. Soon after, the city suffers another outage.
Gokhan is called into the police station for questioning, as cops believe he has something to do with the outages. They also seize his phone, but to their dismay, the phone is wiped clean, as if it was bought this morning. They also pull his record, and it only paints him as a good Samaritan who keeps others before himself. However, when they pull his service record, they find out that he’s the only surviving member of his team.
An investigation was launched, but Gokhan was acquitted. Gokhan also refused the medal and pension from the military as a penance for his survival. Since there’s no incriminating evidence against Gokhan, he is released. As Gokhan exits the police station, he sees hundreds of people gathered outside chanting his name, proving that they believe in his words.
