Kokdu: Season of Deity – K-drama Episode 9 Recap & Review

The Offer

Kokdu Season of Deity Episode 9 begins when Joong Sik tells Pil Soo of the power that Doctor Han has over Kokdu and they decide to test that theory by provoking Kokdu and inviting Doctor Han over to his office. She walks in just in time to find Kokdu strangling Pil Soo and she stops him from making a mistake.

Kokdu is mad that the doctor just went to Pil Soo without him. It is then that he realizes that this was probably a plot by Pil Soo and Joong Sik because of the footage. In their banter, she confesses to loving him, but he stops her midway, even though he knows that the moment she admits to loving him, he will find his peace. However this time, he is worried about her peace. He decides not to leave her side until she finds her peace even if that will means torment for him all over again. She passes out and he carries her home.

The next morning, she is still asleep but hears him talking about Cicada. She tells him not to disturb her peace even though she smiles at him. She asks what happened last night and he says they slept together, going on to clarify that she was the only one who slept. She knows he kissed her but he tells her that she snores and needs to see a doctor. She tells him to leave and on his way out they both hear Han Cheol.

He tries to come in but his sister stops him. However, Han Cheol is relentless as he pushes the door open, only to find laundry on his sister’s bed. He knows that someone was there and thinks that he was distracted while the person got away through the window. She wonders how Kokdu escaped.

At breakfast, Han cheol tells his sister that he wants to see her boyfriend, and slowly realizes that she is seeing Kokdu. He reminds her that the man hurt her but she thinks that he is a handsome doctor even though her brother opposes it.

Pil Soo gets a call from Kokdu who tells him that he is a deity and that he will kill him if he dares to hurt Doctor Han. He warns Pil soo of his ruthlessness and Pil soo says that he won’t hurt Doctor Han because she is the only triumph card he has at the moment. He even asks Kokdu a favor and Kokdu tells him that he is not qualified to ask for favors. Kokdu even tells him that he left him a present.

Secretary Nam calls Pil Soo and tells him that they have trouble at the hospital. The reporters asked him about the list and also the fact that a worker at Pilesong was found dead earlier. He reports that the worker left a suicide note claiming that Pilseong Medical Centre did in fact manipulate medical examination records.

Han Cheol is at the crime scene and thinks that there is more to this. He is curious as to how the reporters already know about it and they see young people in the group who are recording. Even Gakshin is there.

Kokdu is impressed that Gakshin faked the suicide note so perfectly and she gives him the details of how she got to that point of perfection.

Oshin receives a bunch of packages that Kokdu ordered and he is convinced that his master is bonkers. Kokdu however says that he is doing this to protect Doctor Han.

Kokdu brings Doctor Han flowers and mentions how dangerous Pil Soo is. He is worried that she could be hurt in the process, but she thinks he is more dangerous as he kissed her and acted like it didn’t happen. He is shocked that she remembers their kiss.

She asks him why he did it and he admits that he was worried she would confess her feelings for him and gets a little too honest. She sends him away in her fury. She goes home and cooks, and remembers that her mother cooked anytime she was sad.

Kokdu texts her to ask if he can call her, but Gakshin tells him that women hate that. On the other side, Doctor han blames him for not calling her and even apologizing for what he did and thinks he is an expert in fooling around.

Han Cheol is shocked by the amount of food his sister has prepared and asks her if she is going to a cooking competition. She asks him to take care of Chung Seong but he tells her that the police exclude him in that case. She is mad at him for not realizing that he could be fired.

Jung Won texts Han Cheol and sets up a meeting with him after much convincing by Guk Hwa.

Chang Soo comes into Jung Won’s office and Han Cheol roughs him up thinking that he is the stalker. They got to the police station and clarified things. However, she tells the officer at the station to give Han Cheol whatever punishment he deems fit for the man. Han Cheol is put in a cell.

Pil Soo tells Seok Ho to trust him but Seok Ho tells him to get into another scandal to divert the public’s attention. Joong Sik comes and suggests that they direct the hate to the Bolhwa group, headed by Okshin since people love to hate chaebols.

Doctor Han and Kokdu meet and he asks her if she waited for his call but she denies it even though she did. They go to the doctor who tries to hypnotize Kokdu but the doctor fails. She tells Kokdu to focus on her and see how normal hypnosis works. Kokdu thinks that she is weak but the doctor says that he is the weird one.

The doctor tells her to close her eyes but Kokdu stops him and has a conversation with Doctor Han. He realizes how much she has suffered in relationships. When they get out of the doctor’s office, he sees so many people filming them and thinks the target is Doctor Han. So he covers her face to protect her. Later he receives a call from Pil Soo who tells him that he was the actual target and not her. He tells him that the whole world will watch him now instead of Pil Soo.

Okshin tells him that he is the reason his stocks plummeted but Kokdu is a little too nonchalant about the situation. Okshin suggests they go to Seoul but Gakshin thinks it’s selfish because they would be leaving Doctor Han behind. Okshin tells Kokdu about the dangers he poses to Doctor Han because they will be living together. He says that he was rejected and Okshin whines about how Doctor Han has rejected his master so many times. He says that he will go to Seoul and that he has a plan for that.

Guk Hwa comes to Jung Won with the patient reports but she realizes that she is distracted because of Han Cheol. She meets with Chang Soo and tells him to release Han Cheol.

Okshin, Gakshin and Kokdu go to see a different house that he will live in with Doctor Han. The two grim reapers keep bickering and Kokdu threatens to marry them to each other. They go into the house and Kokdu is displeased and threatens to stay in Yeongpo if Okshin doesn’t change the interiors of the house.

At the hospital, Doctor Han is having a breakdown when she sees an article about Kokdu. Hong Geun and his wife come over to the hospital to see her and they bring drinks and food with them. They tell her that Kokdu is going to live in Seoul and they assumed that the two would be living together. Kyung Sung is disappointed because she thought she could finally get her cousin a job at the Bulhwa cafeteria.

Okshin and Kokdu are in Seoul when they see so many people recording them. Okshin is shy and asks his master what they need to do, but Kokdu smirks and they put on a show for the people recording them.

Kyung Sung calls Doctor Han and lets her know that Kokdu is in trouble. She rushes to the hospital to look for him while her brother and his team also seem to be looking for someone at the hospital too. She meets Kokdu who claims that he is unstable when Doctor Han is not with him and that the world is watching his instability. All of this is part of his plan to make her stay with him, and she agrees unknowingly.

In the same hospital, one of the thugs Kokdu murdered survives and Han Cheol finds him.

The Episode Review

In order to make things right, Okshin makes a deal with his master for the stock prices of the Bulhwa group and unexpectedly Kokdu agrees to it. The developments between Kokdu and Doctor Han are interesting as they dive deeper into what their relationship could be in the future, especially when Kokdu wants her to live with him in the same house. I wonder what this will mean for their relationship.
