10 volumes of this have dropped in paperback form in Japan, but the English translations have been delayed. In fact, the next volume holding Chapters 67–73 is set to drop in January 2024! With that in mind, reading online is definitely the definitive way to catch this one.
Kaiju No. 8: Chapter 98 Release Date
Kaiju No. 8: Chapter 96 will be released on Friday 15th December at approximately 12am (JST). This means that for the majority of the Western world, we’ll get to experience this one on Thursday 14th December at 3pm (GMT) / 8am (PT) / 11am (ET). Of course, it’s really dependent on how quickly these chapters are uploaded. Expect this to be pretty close to the release time though.

How Many Chapters Will Kaiju No 8 Have?
It’s hard to say with Kaiju No. 8 how many chapters there will be. The anime drops next year in 2024 and that will undoubtedly spike interest in manga sales for this one. However, there’s always the danger of this one petering out and becoming repetitive. Early estimates would place this one to finish in the region of 150-200 chapters, but take that with a pinch of salt!
What Happened In Chapter 97?
Monster #9 appears before Mina through a portal in his newest and strongest form. All troop members are shocked when that happens, and Kafka runs to her rescue. He remembers how he couldn’t save the chief in the last battle, agonizing about how he can’t allow the same thing to happen to Mina.
However, Monster #9 is prepared for that. Suddenly, a strange group of monsters appears throughout the whole country. All of them are enormous and have 8.0 resilience. While one of the soldiers despairs, saying they are powerless in the face of that, Kafka strengthens his resolve. He prepares himself and the monsters start to attack. The chapter ends with a vision of the destruction happening in the city.
