Jujutsu Kaisen – Season 2 Episode 14 Recap & Review

Episode 14 of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 begins with Mei Mei fighting Smallpox Deity. She analyzes the situation while protecting Ui Ui and herself from getting infected by the deity’s disease. After establishing Ui Ui’s importance and using her cursed technique to defeat the Smallpox Deity, the two plan to combat Suguru’s doppelganger. Meanwhile, Nanami, Maki, and Naobito reach the Inokashira Line Avenue Exit and encounter Dagon. They fight him for a while, but Naobito takes charge. 

Despite having Dagon on the ropes with his cursed technique, Dagon sends Naobito, Maiki, and Nanami to a tropical location via his domain expansion capabilities. Naobito uses an anti-domain expansion technique to protect himself from Dagon’s Shikigami. Before Dagon can harm Maki, Megumi arrives to distract him by creating his domain. Maki uses her tools to combat Dagon while he’s distracted and Nanami and Naobito jump in for support. 

Megumi tells Nanami he plans to open up a hole in Dagon’s domain. This will allow them all to escape it. Nanami tells the others to gather around them and Dagon catches on.

The episode closes with Toji arriving on the battlefield. 

The Episode Review

After last week’s action-packed episode, fans wondered what to expect with its follow-up. It appears Studio Mappa isn’t finished yet as we have another action-centric episode to observe this week. This one focuses more on on Naobito, Nanami, Maki, and Megumi fighting the infamous, Dagon. The fight itself had stellar choreography and animation similar to the previous chapter.

From the dramatic still shots to the pleasing camera angles, fans will be immersed in the spectacle presented in this chapter. Additionally, the fight includes your typical dialogue that sheds more light on the characters’ techniques and domains, preferably Naobito and Dagon’s. Their domain expansion and cursed techniques are interesting and will surely be among other fans’ favorites. 

Outside of Toji showing up at the end and a fine fight between Smallpox Deity, Mei Mei, and Ui Ui, there’s not much else to say on this front. The next chapter will likely focus on this battle between our heroes and Dagon, though. However, it’ll be interesting to see if Megumi and Toji will interact with each other in future episodes.

Overall, this was a nice display of Studio Mappa’s animation prowess.
