Jujutsu Kaisen – Season 2 Episode 12 Recap & Review

Dull Knife

Episode 12 of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 begins with Nanami seeing Kiyotaka’s lifeless body on the floor while contemplating his frustration with helplessness. Meanwhile, Mei Mei murders some criminals in the sewers while monologuing and receiving praise from Ui UI. Yuji and Megumi notice the curtain that forbids sorcerers from entering the domain disappeared. Megumi says the only curtains that remain are the ones trapping Satoru and ordinary citizens. 

Megumi spots Ino falling from a building and Yuji and Megumi rush to save him. Ogami tells her grandson to dispose of the remaining Jujutsu Sorcerers, but Toji’s soul manages to take control of her grandson’s body, giving Toji another shot at life. Toji murders Ogami. Meanwhile, Maki and Nobara discuss Kiyotaka’s potential demise while fighting cursed spirits. Maki tells Nobara and Akeri to find him. Yuji tells Megumi to take Ino somewhere safe as he explores the station to find Ogami and her grandson. 

Nobara and Akari encounter the man who hurt Kiyotaka. Nobara tells Akari to hide and plans to confront this man after analyzing the situation. Akari flees while being chased by the man’s strange hand sword weapon. The man and Nobara fight. The man’s hand-sword weapon trips Akari, enticing him to track her down and hurt her. Nobara tries to retaliate but the man uses the same sword to knock her out for a bit. He confirms they’ve met in the past.

The man continuously stabs Akari in front of Nobara and declares he likes harming people for fun. Nanami arrives, enticing the gentlemen to divert his attention to him instead. Nanami tells the man to tell him where and how many allies he has. The man goofs off, resulting in Nanami delivering several devastating blows to his body. After refusing to give info to Nanami, Nanami knocks the gentleman into the building, possibly ending his life. 

Nobara’s taken aback by Nanami’s strength as they set their sights on finding Nitta. Mei Mei and Ui Ui meet the imposter Suguru and he leaves behind his Special Grade Disease Cursed Spirit, Smallpox Deity to challenge them. He promises to fight Mei Mei if she can beat this cursed spirit. Nanami tells Akari (Nitta) that he did his best to keep Kiyotaka alive. Nanami tells Nobara and Nitta to wait here as he plans to head to the fifth floor underground to meet with Zenin and the others. 

The episode closes with Yuji meeting Choso in the station as Choso plans to avenge her fallen comrades. 

The Episode Review

Things get more action-packed and swift with Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 15. The chapter contains marvelous visuals and well-animated choreographic battles like the previous chapter. On top of that, it sets up some interesting meetings in the future, preferably between Toji and Megumi. Moreover, this episode wonderfully showcases Nanami’s strength as a Jujutsu Sorcerer. 

It was satisfying seeing Nanami manhandle the bizarre gentleman like a rag dog after what he did to his comrades. At the same time, it feels like the anime wasted that character’s potential. He shares brief insight about knowing who Nobara is and comments on how much she’s grown as a person. It would’ve been interesting to learn more about that connection. 

Nevertheless, it’s unclear if that person is completely dead yet. It’s possible they survived the encounter or will gain support from their ally who was with them during their assault on Kiyotaka. Regardless, the exchange between Nanami and this man was well-detailed and contained enough succulent imagery to get fans excited for future confrontations.

Overall, I’m looking forward to seeing what happens between Choso and Yuji as their battles will surely leave others and myself, satisfied too.
