Chapter 271 of Jujutsu Kaisen begins with Nobara, Yuji, and Megumi at Sota’s home. 

What happens when our heroes visit Sota’s home? What does Megumi’s Cursed User plan entail?

Nobara tells Yuji and Megumi that she didn’t find a Cursed Seal on Sota’s girlfriend’s body. She speculates the Cursed User might be nearby though. Nobara interrogates Sota’s girlfriend about her strange vision issue. Then, Megumi tells Sota’s girlfriend, Nobara, and Yuji that the Cursed User might be within 100 meters of them. 

Nobara and Yuji discuss their culprit-catching plans with Megumi. Megumi pinpoints the flaws with each of their plans. He suggests they have Sota and his girlfriend leave the Cursed User’s technique range. Then, Megumi says when the user reactivates his technique, they’ll attack him. 

Yuji and Nobara run with Megumi’s plan. 

Do our heroes capture the Cursed User? Why does the Cursed User curse Sota’s girlfriend?

Some time passes. Sota’s girlfriend notices Sota’s face is back to normal. Meanwhile, Nobara, Megumi, and Yuji pinpoint the Cursed User’s location. Nobara and Yuji attempt to corner the culprit but they get affected by the Cursed User’s technique. Megumi arrives and captures the Cursed User. 

Our heroes bring the culprit to Sota’s girlfriend and his girlfriend says she’s never seen the guy before. The Cursed User yells at Sota’s girlfriend. He’s not happy that she didn’t remember his kind gesture. We learn the Cursed User bought her a fancy bag and had a petty grudge against Sota’s girlfriend. 

Yuji confronts the Cursed User, who is sitting inside a vehicle. The Cursed User admits his mistakes and wonders what will happen next. 

What happens between Yuji and Satoru in the flashback? How does Yuji’s conversation with the Cursed User conclude?

While Yuji confronts the culprit, we enter a flashback. In it, Yuji tells Satoru he wants to tackle switch training with him. Satoru is fine with that. However, Satoru knows Yuji and the others will become better Jujutsu Sorcerers than himself. 

Also, Satoru wants Yuji, Nobara, or Megumi to develop “different strength” from his own. Yuji tells Satoru no one will forget him. Satoru tells Yuji he’s expecting great things from him. We return to the present timeline. 

Yuji tells the Cursed User that it’s great that he acknowledged his mistakes. He wants the Cursed User to reflect on this situation. Yuji tells the Cursed User he’s expecting great things from him. 

What happens between Sukuna and Mahito? What path will Sukuna take now?

Then, we cut away to the afterlife. Mahito greets Sukuna and questions him about his past actions. The former argues Sukuna did what he did for revenge purposes and Sukuna says he had no other option. Then, Sukuna retracts his statement.

Sukuna tells Mahito there were two routes his life could’ve gone. We see Yorozu and Uraume behind Sukuna. Sukuna argues he chose Yorozu’s path, which led to his defeat. He argues he’ll be taking a new path now, Uraume’s to be precise. Mahito tells Sukuna he lost his touch. 

Sukuna doesn’t deny Mahito’s claim. He and Uraume walk off somewhere, leaving Mahito enraged.  

How does the Jujutsu Kaisen manga end?

After that meeting, we cut away to several characters smiling like Yuta, Panda, Yuji, and the others. Then, we cut away to a booth. The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ends with Sukuna’s final finger resting inside that booth.

The Chapter Review

Unfortunately, this is it for Jujutsu Kaisen and this finale will certainly leave fans mixed. This chapter didn’t resolve most of the plot points Gege Akutami brought up in the past. From Yuji’s domain’s lack of a name to abrupt character re-introductions, it felt as if Akutami was trying to get to the finish line sooner rather than later.

Whether it was out of personal interest or higher-up meddling is unknown. However, it’s unfortunate that some story beats won’t be touched upon in the future manga-wise. On the other hand, seeing Satoru pop up in this chapter was okay. It’s disappointing the character didn’t get a proper send-off in real-time.

However, some fans will appreciate Akutami acknowledging Satoru’s character in some fashion. Satoru’s discussion with Yuji was sweet, too. The same can be said with Sukuna. While it’s disappointing that fans won’t see a deep dive into Sukuna’s past, seeing him choose a more pleasant life route was great.

But all in all, this was an okay way to end this manga. Word online suggests Akutami plans to create another work in the future. Hopefully, this new story will produce fabulous results for him and his fans.
