Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart – Season 1 Episode 3 Recap & Review

Episode 3

Episode 3 of Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart begins with Joke disguised as Aran’s new makeup artist. His assistant, Joyce comes bearing bad news that no jewellery brand wants to sponsor the event as his brand is new. Joke convinces Aran to use his own jewellery and everyone tags along to look at the collection. Aran shares that most items are from debtors who had to pawn them and Joke spies Jack’s ring.

That night, while Noo Lek, the stylist transfers the collection, Joke shows up. He flirts with Noo Lek and gets her drunk till she reveals that the collection has a priceless bag. After she passes out, Joke goes through her phone and steals the bag.

Tattoo, an inventor, hooks up the bag so it can generate electric shocks with a remote. Hoi wants to help too and Joke tells him to keep one of the selected models busy so he can show up as his replacement. Hoi, of course, fails as the chloroform is not enough and Tattoo has to beat up the model.

Meanwhile, Boss tells Jack to be part of Aran’s security detail. If everything goes smoothly, Jack will be paid a bonus which will go towards paying off his debt and getting his ring back. We also learn that Jack is trying to get a bank loan but his credit score is bad.

His friend, Save tells him to focus on paying off his debt but Jack reveals that Boss is only giving him desperate cases which means he has to use his money to cover for them. Save points out that it is all a trap but Jack already knows it.

Meanwhile, our robbers show up outside the site with Tattoo disguised as staff, Hoi as a delivery boy and a blond Joke as a model. Joke warns them that they are only to steal the debtors’ pawned items and Tattoo doesn’t look happy. The plan is set in motion as Hoi poisons the staff’s food.

Aran is panicking as Noo Lek and his bag are missing. Tattoo shows up with the bag and claims Noo Lek sent him. Next, Joke shows up as one of the models. Aran finds him suspicious but Joyce unknowingly gaslights him into believing Joke is their model. But the robbers’ plan is almost derailed as Hope and Jack arrive.

Each model has a bodyguard, and of course, Jack is assigned to Joke. While Tattoo eyes Aran’s necklace Jack follows Joke around. The makeup artist dotes on Jack and even gives him moisturiser while Joke nervously avoids him.

Finally, for the event, the bodyguards double check the models’ jewellery. Naturally, Jack’s ring is given to Joke who comments on the engraving. Jack tries to deflect and share that it is the brand’s name. Joke insists that it’s the engraving of a loved one and Jack looks troubled. A cocky Hope comments that if he was guarding his own ring, he would have stolen it.

Right before the show, the staff’s stomach starts hurting and they all rush to the toilet. Hope is suspicious as Joyce comments it must be from the food. However, the fashion show begins and the bodyguards follow the models. After Joke walks the runway, he pockets the ring and wears a fake one. Jack spots movement and backstage, asks for the ring.

Before he can, Tattoo shocks the bag which Aran’s bodyguard is holding. There is chaos as Tattoo claims that all the models need to take off their jewellery and clothes to avoid any sparks or electrocution. Once he has all the jewellery, he switches them with fakes.

While the models change, Aran is busy ranting to Tattoo about the show being a disaster. Tattoo suddenly claims that there is a spark on Aran’s coat. He pretends to help and deftly steals Aran’s necklace as well.

As for Jack, he finally notices that the ring is fake and confronts all the models. With Joke taking off his blond wig, he knows he will be recognised. Before Jack can spot him, Joke runs off. He alerts Hoi and regroups with Tattoo as they decide to head to the exit.

However, Aran finally notices that his necklace is missing. On top of that, Joyce has figured out that the rest of the jewellery pieces have been switched with fakes. A furious Aran threatens to kill the guards if they don’t recover the necklace.

Soon, the guards surround the robbers but Tattoo claims he is a staff member and Joke has the necklace. The guards go off after Joke while Tattoo rushes to the van. He draws Joke’s signature frowny face and tells Hoi to drive off. Hoi doesn’t want to betray Joke but Tattoo recalls Hope’s threats. It seems like he wants to wait for Joke but a guard spots them and they drive off.

As for Joke, he ends up back in the greenroom where Jack is waiting for him. Jack is upset that Joke is somehow always involved and believes that he has stolen the necklace as well. Joke insists that he only took the ring for him and the debtors’ pawned items but Jack doesn’t believe him. They fight for the ring as Jack wants to give it back but they suddenly hear Hope outside. Conflicted, Jack tells Joke to take the ring and run.

Meanwhile, he rushes out and tries to distract Hope who wonders if Jack hired the robbers to steal his ring. He searches Jack and barges into the greenroom but Joke is long gone.

Elsewhere, Hoi is downcast as he is miserable that they betrayed Joke. Tattoo points out that they have to help themselves first and takes him to a shady pawnshop where they get 6 million for the necklace. As they head home, they find a waiting Joke who is disappointed in them. Tattoo takes full responsibility and even offers some of the money to Joke as an apology. He shares that he has no choice and tells him about Hope’s threats.

Joke forgives him but tells him to give back the debtors’ pawned items to the rightful owners. Hoi is delighted they have patched up and asks about Jack’s ring. Joke looks sad as he shares Jack didn’t take it.

Meanwhile, Jack is cleaning the frowny face graffiti while Hope beats the guards. Grandma calls and tells Jack that Sampong is dead. We also learn that despite Boss’ threats, Jack still covered Sampong’s interest. Grandma tells Jack to stop and take care of himself for once and he promises to come home soon. As for Aran, he lies to his father that everything worked out and Boss gives Jack his bonus as well as his next target – Khajorn Jamchan.

At the end of Jack & Joker Episode 3, Hoi and Tattoo are planning to run away and they ask what Joke’s next move is. Tattoo knows he won’t run and comments that he is glad that Joke has a home to go back to when things get rough. Joke doesn’t say anything as he goes through his brother’s Instagram and only finds photos of Top with their parents. He then looks at Jack’s ring and smiles.

The Episode Review

Jack & Joker Episode 3 finally takes us to the first moment of the show with the guards chasing Joke and him running into Jack. The execution of this chapter is not very smooth from the prolonged and inorganic product placement to the campy chase sequence.

But all of this just seems like a small hitch as the Thai BL is still entertaining. The different comic aspects are pretty much the highlight from the assistants’ over-the-top acting to Jack and Joke’s amusing fight scene which seems more like a lover’s fight.

Joke is a goofy little smarty-pants but it is Jack who has our attention at the moment. He is far from the naive, cheerful boy we see in episode 1 but he is still naive as in hopeful as he continues to go behind Boss’ back to help debtors. On top of that, it seems that he still wants to open his school with a bank loan and is a good guy as he lets Joke escape. But we do wonder how far is he going to go before he is caught by Boss.
