Iwájú – Season 1 Episode 2 Recap & Review

Bode

Episode 2 of Iwájú begins with a flashback of Bode when he was young. He gets kicked out of his menial job for stealing some money. His mother begs for forgiveness, but he isn’t forgiven because of his ungrateful attitude. His mother scolds him for his actions, but he retaliates, claiming they are very rich and it is only fair.

Fast forward to the present time he receives money for the child to be released and distributes a small bundle to his people. He then instructs Happiness to return the child. He also tells her to find Kole.

At the mansion, Kole fixes a robot. Tunde appreciates his skill but asks him not to make his daughter do housework. He receives a text from Happiness informing him about Oga. After her father leaves, Tola joins him in dancing. However, he claims he needs to return to work. She asks him to have dinner with her at night. She claims he will be working late and that he can join her.

Happiness arrives to inform Bode that the boy has been successfully returned. He puts her back on finding Kole.

At home, Kole and Tola play VR games. Just then, the food arrives and she makes him have dinner with her. She asks him about going to Ajegunle. He claims he cannot come. Just then, Tunde arrives and scolds Kole for sitting at the table. Tola takes the blame on her, but he questions her about how she has been taking care of Otin.

Later that night Kole tries to board the bus, but the conductor demands more money or asks him to leave. Kole chooses to find his own way. Just then, Bode calls him at the end of Iwájú Episode 2.

The Episode Review

Iwájú Episode 2 builds on the antagonists and also gets you to empathize with them. The center of focus is Bode and Kole. The episode briefly shows a scene of Bode during his childhood, where he rebelled against their upper-class employers. It then builds on the same energy in Kole when he gets treated badly by Tunde.

Kole has access to Tunde’s life and will be helpful to Bode in extracting money from Tunde. Given Kole’s current impression of Tunde, it seems like Bode intends to lure Kole into his plan and get help from him to run one of his dirty tricks. However, things can get tricky as Bode is known for kidnapping kids and Tunde’s daughter is Kole’s friend. It is intriguing to watch everything unfold.
