Iron Reign – Episode 4 “Double or Nothing” Recap & Review

Double or Nothing

In episode 4 of Iron Reign we get a glimpse into Ricardo’s past through a flashback to his teenage years. We see him playing in a basketball match at school, but he’s saddened by the fact that his father never makes time for him. Even when his father is physically present, he’s never really there mentally.

This realization hits Ricardo hard, and it affects his performance. In a crucial moment, he misses a three-pointer, costing his team the game. It’s during this time that Ricardo’s addiction to gambling begins to take hold.

Miki meets with an old co-worker at the bar to discuss the presence of a mole within their circle. The source doesn’t have the mole’s name but shows Miki a picture, causing him to react with shock. Meanwhile, Nestor, Roman, Ricardo, and Victor review security footage and confirm that someone did indeed try to kill Joaquin.

Nestor suggests that the same attackers might have stolen the shipment. He also raises the possibility that the container might still be at the port, prompting them to split up and search for it. Meanwhile, the Frenchman pays a visit to Roman, informing him that the drugs brought by the Mexicans are already in circulation. He mentions a name, “Piñata,” which could be significant.

Roman and Nestor track down Piñata at his apartment, where he attempts to flee but is eventually apprehended. In a bid to extract information, the duo threatens to drop him from six stories up if he doesn’t cooperate. Piñata caves and reveals that a group of people are manufacturing drugs at a farm called Lassagra.

Back at port, Victor heads to the police station to meet Sergeant Miki Rossilo and notices Noria, the tattooed girl he’s seen around the port, has been following him for a couple of days. Together, Miki and Victor head to the port to locate the drugs, but their search proves futile.

Meanwhile, Nestor and Roman arrive at the farm and discover it heavily guarded by henchmen armed with automatic rifles. They stealthily infiltrate the farm and come across the same Russian dolls that were brought by the Mexicans in Tampico.

Additionally, they spot one of their company trucks parked there. A gunfight ensues, but Nestor and Roman manage to eliminate all the henchmen. Upon further investigation, they uncover that the truck at the farm belongs to Ricardo, Joaquin’s son. It is possible that Ricardo had sold the drugs to settle his gambling debts.

Roman decides to inform the Frenchman, but Rocio asks them to hear Ricardo’s side of the story. Roman doesn’t listen and meets the Frenchman, telling him they’ve only found a small portion of their drugs. The Frenchman also shows Roman a video of a pig munching on a human, and Roman decides not to tell the Frenchman about finding Ricardo’s truck at the farm.

Meanwhile, Rocio gives Ricardo a bag full of money and tells him to disappear. Ricardo hands over the bag to Jatri, and when the latter finds out that Ricardo is still thousands of euros short, he tries to hurt him.

To save himself, Ricardo proposes a deal: they find the drugs that Roman has stolen. This will eliminate all the competition, and Ricardo will become the proprietor of the port. The deal falls on Jatri’s ears like music, and he agrees.

As the episode nears its end, Roman meets Chris, but she tells him that she can never be with someone like Roman. She also implies that whatever happened to Joaquin was Roman’s doing. This accusation infuriates Roman, and he leaves to drown himself in booze.

Jatri and his men break into Christina’s home and beat her. While she is being rushed into the ambulance, she reveals that it was Ricardo who had attacked him. Ricardo doesn’t just stop there; he visits his father in the hospital but can’t do anything because Flaco is there.
